///// PROFILE GUIDE
Character Name - Check out the accepted forum to see the other names which have been used. Try to keep your name unique (but realistic) as this will save confusion when RPing.
Check out our celeb claim forum. Make sure the person you want isn’t in the current celeb/NPC/Inactive Claim. The best thing is to use someone who hasn’t been used, even if they are inactive.
Gender - Male or Female. Again, link this into your name. Sure, women can have male names and vice versa, but it’s usually a nickname. Also, if you are not the same gender as the person you are RPing, please try not to stereotype the gender you'll be playing.
Age - We tend to keep our celeb claims and our characters within five years of each other. For example, if your character is 25, you would need to find a celebrity between the ages of 20 and 30. You cannot use younger pictures of an older actor or actress and use them as a CC (for example, a 25 year old Sean Connery to play your 25 year old character).
Also this is a Heroes RPG and not all powers manifest at puberty. Some characters have been born with their powers. But if this is your first character on Eclipse, they will have to be a new manifest. What this means is that they can only have had their power for 1-2 weeks at the most, or their power hasn't manifested yet and will manifest in-game. This only applies to first characters.
Date of Birth – The date of birth is taken from the current year.
Sexual Orientation – Choose one - Heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual.
Location/Birthplace - There are three main boards for you to RP in. You don’t have to have been born there, you could have been born somewhere else, and just reside in one of the main boards.
Have you read the rules? - Read the general rules. There is important stuff in there that you will need to know for when you create your bio.
Personality - Do not mention anything about your character's power here, even if it does influence their personality. Please restrict all discussion of powers to the Abilities/Powers/Limits section.
Click here for a list of personality traits and skills. You don't have to choose from this list; it's just there if you're drawing a blank.
Try and keep it to traits and make sure the traits link (i.e. your character cannot be both honest and dishonest at the same time). You should also use the history to explain why they are how they are.
The Lists – Please do not mention powers in any of the lists. These are to know your character, and not define them by their power. Also, for all of the lists, follow the same capitalisation rules you would follow when writing a sentence. Do Not Write All Of Your List Entries Like This, In Other Words.
Likes/Dislikes - Try and keep them in line with your character's personality.
Strengths/Weaknesses - What makes them strong, or hinders them. Strengths encompass things that they're good at (telling jokes, cooking, deception, honesty, etc.) Weaknesses are things that they are not good at (maintaining relationships, trusting other people, math, that sort of thing). Having a weakness for the opposite sex, blue eyes, chocolate, or other really mundane crap isn't a weakness. Please don't add it as such because it pisses off the bio mods. Family being a weakness is debatable and up for discussion. Also, Strengths/Weaknesses need to be different from Skills/Flaws because they're two different things. Flesh out your character more and don't repeat yourself.
Skills - Skills and Strengths are different. A Skill is something that is learned, such as archery, practicing medicine, or being a stunt driver. It can include things that they have learned over the years (like a martial art of some sort) or things that they have a natural affinity for (like the performing arts).
Flaws – Flaws and Weaknesses are also different. Flaws are what make your character human. They can be physical, social or mental. Examples of flaws would be phobias, addictions, allergies, physical imperfections or disabilities, medical conditions or psychological disorders.
Abilities/Powers - We have a Power List. Please look at it to make sure that your chosen power is one that is allowed, and that it isn't already capped. This list is updated regularly and is kept up to date. Look here first before deciding upon a power.
We allow up to two powers, BUT if you have two powers, make sure they link in some way. It helps if you elaborate on what makes the power tick, add the science part into it. Also the secondary power should be weaker than the primary power. Don’t just copy and paste it from Activating Evolution; put some of your own thought into it.
Power Limits - These are the limitations on your character's power. Every power has limits. For example, someone with hydrokinesis might not be able to produce water if they're standing in the middle of a desert or a raging inferno. Someone whose power is mentally based might not have as much control over their power if they are intoxicated.
Appearance - Use your celeb claim and describe their face, body structure, and if they have any scars, piercings, or tattoos. Keep the facts, don’t use opinions.
Alignment/Team Affiliation - Think of what kind of person they are. Hero/villain/neutral is pretty self explanatory. Please consult the factions thread for explanations of the various factions. Should you wish to have your character be a member of a certain faction, please contact a staff member so that the person in charge of the faction can review your bio as well and make sure everything works out faction-wise.
Faction leaders can be found HERE.
Mother/Father/Sibling – Please provide this information in the format provided on the bio template.
History - Use everything in the bio to explain how they have been shaped. Everything. What made your character the person they are today? Make it as detailed as possible and try to include things like what they did when they were younger, and how and why their personality changed as they grew older. Try and keep away from clichés (traumatic childhood, parents both died in a fire, they were orphans, etc.)
Anything else to add - If there is anything that you don’t think has been covered by our application form, please add it here.
Sample RP - This must be for the character you will be RPing as. We want to see how you will RP with this particular character.
Also, when in doubt, look around the Accepted Forum at some of the bios which have already been approved. They might help shed some light on what we expect out of your bio and how it needs to be formatted. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact a staff member. Staff members are members listed in red in the List of Characters & Players.
