Greetings again. My writer has charged me with explaining another new feature.
She's also commanded me to keep it short, as she has to go to work. Poor wage slave.
RAMPART is the primary stock market in our world. It's an acronym; it stands for "Regulatory Association of Market Price Aggregation for Review and Trade." (Which I think is just writer gobbeldygook for being able to use the word "Rampart." Granted, it is a nice word.) But that is quite irrelevant.
You can buy and sell stocks that appear on the RAMPART index. For now, there are some "real life" corporations (eBay, Microsoft) that you can purchase. However, you will notice the existence of certain in-game companies as well. Currently, that list consists of:
Acacia Heights Entertainment
Dominion Airlines
IntelliTouch
Kilvayne Corporation
Reier Technologies
Vital Energy
If there are other characters (including NPCs) that also have publicly traded companies, they can also be added to RAMPART by contacting moynahan.
The icon that leads to the stock index and your investments is on the lower left, directly next to the "Piggeh." There you can choose the stocks you would like to buy and how many, and then sell them when you feel the time is right. You can do this on any or all of your accounts, or you may choose to decline to participate. It is all in fun, although it is possible to integrate the stock market into play ("I just lost all my money after investing in IBM!").
My writer has also provided a bit of cash with which to start your adventures in the stock market.
If there is interest among my fellow characters, I may offer a seminar on how to play the stock market. After all, as I've said, I love finance, and I also love teaching. I also love to talk, as I did when I initially introduced the new money system.
On that note, don't forget to invest some of your money in savings.
There will be more to come, of course. More money. And other things.
I hope that was short but descriptive enough to garner your interest. The market will not open again until Tuesday the third, and runs roughly from 9:30 AM to 4 PM on weekdays; however, through RAMPART, you can buy and sell at any time.
Thank you for your time, and best of luck to you!
