Good evening.
We're here to have a brief discussion of the new monetary system and how it works.
First, we'll start with the old money system. Before this site changed over, there was a rate of $5 per post on all in-character posts. Additional money could be earned through winning contests such as the now-defunct Of-the-Months, as well as participating in sitewide character contests. Many an account racked up a good savings through such venues.
That system, unfortunately, was lost with the switch. Fortunately, a "plugin" - a premade feature which our site hosts, Proboards, now wish us to use primarily in place of header and footer codes - was made to handle currency on such sites as needed it. It offers a considerable amount of new features and works a good deal differently, as I will explain presently.
The first change is that, due to the removal of "OTMs," the earning rate per post has been raised. An account now earns $20 for each thread started, and $10 for each full reply. (This does not count if you use the Quick Reply function, which I understand has been disabled in most boards in any case). Money is also earned in other ways - by number of posts; once an account makes 100 posts, for example, it earns a bonus of $1000. There is also the activity bonus: a bonus is given to every account that posts regularly over a fortnight.
Now, all of these funds save the activity bonus go directly to your Wallet. This is the account that you are used to having; it appears underneath each character's avatar. Consider it an actual wallet, in which you keep your money nearby, and handy. There is, however, now another place, a safer place, in which to store that money. It is the Bank, and once I explain it, I am sure it will become your preferred mode of keeping your hard-earned cash.
Please look the the lower right of this page. You will note that there is an icon resembling a pig there. My writer informs me that, due to circumstances regarding chat and a CO, this icon is to be referred to as "the Piggeh." Click on it, and you will be transported to your Bank. Here you can deposit money from your Wallet into your Bank, or withdraw money and place it in your Wallet, as you prefer. However, money in your Wallet does not accrue interest. The Bank offers interest at, currently, a rate of five percent, earned over a period of a month, if I am not mistaken. (Edit: I am mistaken; it appears to be accrued per day.)
I regret to say that the staff members of this site will be unable to restore the amounts of money your accounts had earned before. However, perhaps this system will help you earn your way back - and, indeed, even higher - very quickly. All it requires is your activity and your good sense with money. Soon you will have enough to buy the regular things - upgrades, boards, and the like - just as you could before.
There are other features which may, depending on popularity, be included as well - a Stock Market which came installed with the plugin. Currently it is disabled. With enough interest, however, it may be put into play, both for you and your characters.
Any questions regarding this system may be directed to my writer, Rayne. She is apparently very handy with money herself. No, wait, I believe she meant that to be sarcastic. Ah, well. She is familiar with the plugin, at least.
Thank you for your time. I do hope you enjoy the new system.
