[Charlie Baker]

"I just don't understand how you can sit back and watch this happen..I mean..I didn't think you'd ever be in this position Charlie..and we're supposed to just sit back and accept this?..honestly? you want us to just accept this and act as if we're fine with it all?" His mothers voice spoke gently, almost with desperation. She wanted him to stand up, to put his foot down and make a fuss but he wouldn't...he couldn't. Charlie didn't want to hurt Alice or Sharon..and he knew making a scene would only accomplish losing them both for good. Charlie just stood by the counter, head down and eyes on the floor..a familiar stance that he often took, never so much these days with strangers but his mother always made him return to the fearful roots he'd come to over accomplish. He heard his dad whisper to his mother, in a bid to calm her down but she merely left the room, sobbing.

Charlie sighed heavily, rubbing the scruff on his chin before his hand found the back of his neck. He rubbed it anxiously, looking up as his father stepped closer "I understand why you're doing it this way, truth be told..I'd do it the same way. Your mother, she worries..you know that. She loves you, and Sharon..she just wants what's best for you." He said gently, as Charlie simply nodded "Things happen..and they're not always within out control, like what's happening here..I know you didn't expect it to go this way, but it is and..you're dealing with it and i respect you for dealing with it the way you are. You're mother, she'll come around.." he offered, patting Charlie on the back as he eyed him with a small, reassuring smile.

Dread filled the young man as his father left the room. Alice was expected to come over today to bring Sharon and Charlie knew that this was going to cause friction, especially in regards to his mother..she hated how this had played out. She hated the fact her son had a child with someone who didn't care about him, or seeing her son in love with someone who couldn't return that same love. She feared they would lose Sharon and that it would destroy Charlie in the process.

Charlie didn't much like the situation either, but there was nothing he could really do. Alice was his daughters mother, he loved her dearly and always would..but she loved someone else and..he had to respect that, despite not wanting to.

It wasn't easy leaving Sharon every two weeks. After all, Alice did carry the little one in her tummy for a good nine months, and leaving her side always felt like a piece of her was torn away. She was learning to live with it, week by week. Charlie deserved to be a big part of Sharon's life. Alice was just glad he would accept this arrangement.

Sharon was too young to understand why her mum and dad didn't live together, or why they were not married. It was a small blessing that this was all she knew, that she would spend half her life with Mommy and Aunt Claudia, while the other half would be spent with Daddy and the Bakers. Sharon even had Charlie's last name. Sharon Adelaide Charlene Baker. If she ever became an actress, she'd have no shortage of stage names to choose from.

And entertaining little Sharon was. For how intelligent she was for her tender age, she had no qualm with bringing out the slapstick humour if it made people around her laugh and be happy. Sharon liked being funny, and she used it as a way to get her points across.

Alice was running late getting to Charlie's house to drop Sharon off, and when Alice hit the gas a bit too much as the Maserati's engine roared while creeping over the speed limit, Sharon bounced about in her car seat. "Vroom! Vroom! Left turn, Mommy! Left turn!"

Alice still had no idea where she learned about Nascar from, but wherever it may be, it was Sharon's subtle but funny way to tell her mom to slow the hell down. The young mother laughed, but didn't slow down much. She didn't want to be late. She didn't want the Bakers to think any worse of her than they do for the past couple of years.

There were lots of times when being a telepath was a huge advantage in life. Unfortunately, it became very hard to escape from true feelings. Every time Alice came to drop Sharon off and pick her up again, she had to see Charlie's family, and while they were neutral enough on the outside, she could hear everything that was going on in their heads. Charlie's family hated Alice for ruining Charlie's life. They thought the big movie star just wanted her little fun with some young guy, and then tossed him aside to live out some lesbian fantasy. Alice knew they had every right to think that way. Charlie was their baby, and Alice screwed him up, leaving behind a young and unmarried father that couldn't move past a woman that didn't love him back.

They were very wrong on that part. Alice loved Charlie with all her heart, and she would do anything for him. It just wasn't the same kind of love she felt with her fiancee, Claudia. When Alice's telepathy manifested, the two shared each other's lives. There was no one on earth that understood Alice better than Charlie, and vice versa, and this bond was stronger than everything. It was like having the twin Alice never had, a brother to look after and the very same to have for protection. Alice could never go without Charlie in her life. They were soul-bound forever, and their bond gave them Sharon... but it wasn't the same as the love Charlie seeks in Alice.

So many emotions, and so much negativity in the Baker household, that when Alice finally arrived, she had to stop two yards before the front door, unable to bring herself forward from all the thoughts she was hearing. All of the hatred for this harlot, this bitch that kept dropping her daughter off so she could have two weeks of peace and quiet with her future wife while using their son as a glorified babysitter. So she stood there, shaking and frozen in fear, and seriously considering leaving Sharon at the door and running away. A little hand tucked at Alice's sweater sleeve.

"One step at a time, Mommy."

Sharon was good at remembering things she had learned, and she reiterated them at the times most needed. Alice used to tell Sharon that phrase over and over again when Sharon learned to walk. With Sharon being the sweetest and wisest tiny human being ever, Alice picked her up, gave her a big wet kiss on the cheek, took one step at a time all the way to the front door, and rang the doorbell.

As the doorbell sounded, Charlie lifted his head. Eyes barrelling out the open kitchen door and into the hallway as his sister proceeded toward the front door. Pushing himself off the counter, Charlie stood tall, extended his hand and stopped the brunette in her tracks. "I got it.." he assured using his Telekinesis to prevent her from moving one step further. She frowned at him, hating how he had now not only gained control of his abilities..but frequently used them on the rest of them, to keep them in check..or out of danger. Admittedly Charlie had become quite the'hero' as of recent and..though proud they were, his usage of abilities in everyday life often worried them. However, this wasn't the time for getting into it all..Sharon was waiting outside.

Stepping out of the kitchen, he removed his hold on Kim who turned around and headed back the way she had come from. Sighing, Charlie look at the door, bringing a hand to the back of his neck..he rubbed an uneasy hand along the back of it..before taking a step forward. He thought it'd get easier, it never got easier..it always got more difficult for him. After a moment, he puffed his cheeks and blew the air out between his lips before stepping toward the door and slowly opening it. His eyes instantly fell onto the little girl sat in her mothers arms. A grin quickly painted upon his face as his eyes peered up at her. She was beautiful, in every way..and he knew that as her father, such a statement would be deemed as biased but..it was true. She was absolutely perfect.

"You know..it wont be long before you're too big to pick up..before you know it, you'll be carrying Mommy up the stairs.." He joked playfully, stepping out of the door and holding his hands out for her to come to him "You're almost as big as me.." he joked again with a smile. Charlie turned his eyes toward Alice, as much as he always tried to hide it..there was always that gleam in his eye, they just lit up whenever he looked at her and there was absolutely nothing he could do about it. He smiled slightly "Don't worry so much..." He spoke gently, refering to the anxiousness she always emitted when she came to drop Sharon off..she was always so fearful of them, what theyd say..what they thought..it was always hard but despite what had gone on, he always had her back.

Charlie pressed his back against the door, opening it wide gesturing for the blonde to enter.
