Micah Walker
Manhattan Aquarium, NY
November 3rd, 2014Micah was sixteen years old when he started volunteering at the Manhattan Aquarium. And here he was five years later, still volunteering on the weekends like it was his job. He still couldn’t even believe they kept him around this long. He was sure they’d ask him to leave after the first few weeks when he started this as a teenager. But they actually valued him here. He did good work, helped out and knew all the employee’s very well, besides all the newer people form the past few months. He had been through a lot since he started volunteering here, not just outside this place, but at lot happened inside this building as well.
He was here when he faced off against the villain, Adrian Kilvayne. Back then they were the worst of enemies, it was amazing how quickly things changed as time went on. Back then Micah would do anything to see the villain dead for his crimes. But now? It was the opposite. And he couldn’t even explain why. He just had some very strange feelings for the villain now.
On April 2nd he was also here, volunteering like it was any other day. In those few minutes everyone in the world got powers of their own, Micah witnesses the chaos that occurred here in the Aquarium and watched as it was nearly destroyed. A civilian with a supersonic screeching power shattered the glass of all the tanks and the building nearly went down with it. Luckily they were able to rebuild in the coming months, but they did lose many sea creatures that day that they just couldn’t save. And Micah was there trying to help, as well. On that day all he wanted to do was help wherever he could. And he knew being on the Aquarium that day was fate. Or at least he likes to think it was.
This was also the place he took Travis Payne too, after saving him from some thugs late at night. He had just left the Aquarium that night when he came across the leader of the Watcher P.I in desperate trouble and as usual, Micah stepped in to help him. Travis wasn’t in good shape after that and he took him back to the Aquarium to bring him somewhere safe. That was the night Travis asked him to join the Watchers and help him recruit more heroes to the cause.
That was just another special night he’ll never forget.
Micah Walker has had a lot of memories here in the Aquarium. It’s part of the reason he comes here so often, because no matter how bad things might seem, when he’s here he always senses the hope in the air. He’s done good things here. And he wants to keep doing good things.
Today he wasn’t here for volunteering, but just for some leisure. With no classes today or anything important to really get done, Micah just wanted to relax and wash the fish and other aquatic animals swimming around. There wasn’t many people here, being still early on a Monday with most kids in school and adults working, so there was barely a crowd in sight. He was walking in the darker section of the Aquarium, where everything with dim and most of the light came from the tanks to see inside where the fish lived that preferred much darker environments. There was a dividing tank in the middle that you could see through both ends. Micah had stopped there for a moment to look through and that’s when he saw somebody on the other side. “Adrian?” He muttered.
The brunette hurried around to the other side of the section to get a better look at the person he thought he saw. But by the time he went around, there was nobody there. He could swear he saw Adrian looking through the other side, but now he was just starting to think he was seeing things. He crossed his arms and chuckled at himself. As he went to turn around and walk away, he hit something that was right behind him and gasped “Oh! God, I’m sorry! I didn’t see you there…”
