STILL LEARNING WHAT CHAOS KILLS
Aaron Chandler, writing from Washington, D.C.We are well into President Lucius Kilvayne’s first term as our President, and so far, all has been well - better than his many critics had predicted. Doctor Kilvayne seems to be settling into his role, and remains popular across the country, holding a sixty-or-so approval rating. He might well become the most popular president in our nation’s history.
Yet we should not forget how we arrived here. It was Doctor Kilvayne and his colleagues who beat the cholera epidemic, and who revealed the past government’s many mistakes - from acting rashly on false and unchecked information to former president Sawyer being unable to protect his own daughter, who suffered a cruel, twisted death at the hands of the terrorist Lilith. With so much standing against them, how could we not oust them from office?
Under Kilvayne’s hands, the Company has become the nation’s foremost intelligence agency, surpassing even the CIA and NSA. Their wider powers give them the authority to take any steps necessary to protect the people and strengthen the bond between Specials and civilians.
In that vein, Ark Industries does appear to have made the turnaround its new CEO promised. So far, the company, under the umbrella of the Kilvayne Corporation - which remains the world’s largest megacorporation - has produced Project Dreamscape, an engine that can operate on water, and, of course, a cure to the past cholera epidemic - where it is said that Ark’s CEO himself worked in near-solitude with the Kilvaynes to create the vaccine.
Looking back, this is hardly a surprise - Christian Moynahan has proven himself time and time again as a true hero and model to emulate for this nation. It certainly helps that he seems to be close friends with President Kilvayne as well.
These are quiet times, comparatively. One almost expects something disastrous to happen at any second…. As a society, have we become so attuned to disaster that we can never enjoy peace? And if so… who could blame us?
