The FALL OF THE WALL
It is the end of the second week of the new year, perhaps then it is time for a new perspective. Let us look back at what has befallen us as a people or perhaps better yet, what has befallen us as a nation. For once you get past the bright lights and hysteria of the moment, then you begin to see the truth behind the curtain. The nation, the American nation, is under attack and our government has been powerless to stop it.
The cholera outbreak weakened our spirits and destroyed our bodies. How could something that is supposed to be contained to third world countries happen here in America and how could it have spread so fast and been so deadly? It was a first strike, softening up the masses for what was to come later, after we thought this freak incident was behind us.
Then, unknown to us as a public, we are hit with one of the worst events in all of humankind, a famine. Nothing is more terrifying than not having enough food to survive, having to watch as you and your loved ones die because a lack of basic necessities. It is in part what wiped out the dinosaurs and has been the cause of some of the greatest population drops in human history.
Yet it was avoided, thanks in large part to the same man who helped cure the cholera outbreak, Christian Moynahan. Perhaps you heard of him and his accent to the head of Ark Industries, the company so infamous for its scientific endeavors. Instead of being the evil bad guys whose experiments are the cause of all things bad in the world, it was they who helped mitigate the disasters that could have crippled us as a people and a nation.
Then in the greatest mistake in many years, the government decided to try him for treason. It was then and only then that we learned of the new catastrophe that befell us and how he and other parties stopped the occurrence from turning into a complete disaster. Yet people were afraid, afraid and angry of not knowing what had happened, afraid that perhaps the disaster was not avoided completely.
And so we had the riots and protests. For that we should be ashamed, ashamed of how we treated our common citizens, for acting like feral animals when the problems had already been taken care of. Yet there was that man again, Christian Moynahan, saving the day, stopping a terrorist plot in the nation's capital. Saving the very government who had desired to lock him up, who had called him a traitor.
Therein lies the lesson, a man who was vilified, who ran a company that everyone had cast as the villain became a hero thrice over. What has happened to that man? No one knows, the last any one saw of him was being taken by the Jung Facility through some sort of portal. Yet if this man could forgive the very people who had done so much against him, how could we let out petty differences continue to cause our tensions? Specials, civies, gays, straights, zealots, non believers. We have cast our walls and orders, made our divisions, and sought to cause each other misery out of fear.
It is time we take a page out of Mr. Moynahan's book and cast down these walls. Forward unto a bright new day, grateful for the lives we have been given to live.
