Sidney wasn't sure what to expect from today, her 24th Birthday. For as long as Sidney could remember birthdays hadn't meant anything at all, just another year older. It was only the past year or two that Sidney had actually done anything for her birthday. It was mostly because those around her had forced her into doing something other than sitting on her couch, wrapped in a duvet eating Ben and Jerry's. Sidney liked ice cream, she also liked being left the hell alone when she didn't feel like doing anything and as far as she was concerned...birthdays really weren't all that much of a big deal. She didn't want an unnecessary fuss made of her, birthday or not.
Today was her birthday and Isaac had insisted on making a big deal of it. He’d taken the time out of work to spend with her, she really appreciated that. Sidney hated having a fuss made of her, but at the same time she was really grateful for it. She’d been with Isaac a good six months now and it had been some of the most amazing and exciting months of her life. Nothing had changed really between them; they didn’t fight or have disagreements everything seemed to be as perfect as it was from the first day except maybe things had become easier on the talking front. Sidney wasn’t as guarded as she had previously been and seemed to have alot more faith in Isaac then she had previously.
Of course it was going to take time for her to adjust to this new person in her life, but she had adjusted just fine and had no regrets to speak of as it went right now. Everything was good. Suffice to say she still seemed to hold back a little, mostly with speaking her feelings out loud. Six months was quite a long time, more or less long enough to establish exactly how she felt about him. She had racked her brain over it a fair amount, teetering back and forth trying to rationalise the feelings she had for him. She had shortly drawn up a conclusion, one that didn’t surprise her all that much to be honest...she loved Isaac, she really did....she just had a problem with actually saying it.
Despite not saying it, she was certain he more or less already knew. They both made little, somewhat subtle efforts in that department but never had said it out loud and so formally. She was okay with that to be honest, she did have moments where she almost said it and if she was frightened of his reaction maybe she’d have gone through it. Truth be told, she’d been out of the dating game for a while now and really wasn’t sure when the best time was. Even with all things considered and how things were with him, she still didn’t know if now was the right time and had been sorta hoping he’d have taken a dive at it already.
Sidney had woken up fairly late; having a late night after all she was entitled to a sleep in. The brunette shortly awoke, her duvet wrapped around her, her arms snuggling the pillow under her head. Sidney slowly opened her eyes, squinting some to ease her eyes to the light that was radiating through the gap in the curtains of her bedroom. After a moment or so, she grinned. Sidney was pretty excited about today, and couldn’t wait to see what Isaac had in store for her. Beaming, she rolled over to face him..only to be greeted by...nothing. Where was he?
The brunette waited for a moment, sitting up and glanced around the room for a second or so before climbing out of the bed. She grabbed her oversized sports jersey from the floor and pulled it on, it came just below thigh..giving a decent enough coverage, but could have given a little more. Quietly she exited the bedroom. Sidney rubbed her eyes a little heading down the hallway. She glanced into the bathroom half expecting him to be there, but he wasn’t there either. Raising a brow she wondered where the hell he’d gone. She hadn’t heard him get up...then again she was a pretty heavy sleeper nowadays, the world could end around her and she’d probably sleep through it.
Upon arriving in the lounge, she clocked the bouquet of Roses on the kitchen counter. She stopped, eyeing them for a moment...yeah, something had come up. Sidney was fully aware that when I guy did something wrong, birthday or not they went all out with flowers and whilst the gesture was wonderful...she’d have preferred to find him holding them. Sidney sighed gently, walking toward the bouquet which was accompanied by a note. Sidney took a minute or so, eyeing the flowers and admiring them because they were beautiful but that dreaded note that came with it quickly got her thinking.
Taking the note she opened it and as luck would have it, she was right. 'Sorry I can't be with you today. I will see you as soon as I can. Love, Isaac xx'. Sidney huffed; rolling her eyes she scrunched up the note and threw it at the front door “..As soon as you can? Oh, I wouldn’t want to see me if I were you...especially now that I'm going to shove my foot up your ass. We’ll see how sorry you are then..” She grumbled. He was lucky he wasn’t here or else she’d have made sure he choked on the note after she shoved those roses right up his backside. Sidney left the roses where they were. She did have half a mind to toss them in the trash but well..they were nice to look at, no matter how pissed she was right now.
Sidney headed back into the bedroom, pulling the duvet off her bed and much like Charlie brown decided to drag it around behind her has she moved back to the lounge. She tossed the duvet onto the couch, opened the freezer taking out a large tub of Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie and a giant spoon. She was pissed, of course she was but like always Ben and Jerry’s would fix her problems. She headed over to the couch, snuggling underneath her duvet where she planned to spend her birthday pigging out on ice cream whilst watching old cartoons from the 90’s..oh how she loved them so.
