"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" The brunette snapped as she followed speedily after the dark haired woman, her mother. Sidney had gotten up to answer the door, to find Sebastian stood there, a beaming smile on his face. For a moment she felt as if her heart had stopped beating, gazing at his bright, enthusiastic smile. The brunette grinned slightly, before her eyes narrowed toward the dark haired female heading down the drive way. Sidney furrowed her brows, a glance at the bags around Sebastian's feet told her that someone was planning on staying, and by the looks of things it wasn't her mother.
It wasn't that she wasn't happy about seeing him, she was over the moon. However, Claudia was going all wrong about this and that pissed Sidney off completely. For starters, she wasn't sure what the fuck this was but at first glance it looked as if Claudia was abandoning him, without a single word or explanation. Sidney turned to Seb, patting him slightly on the head "Stay right there." She spoke softly, before turning her anger toward Claudia who she quickly went after.
"You stop when I'm talking to you!" She shouted, not loud enough for Sebastian to hear as there was a great distance between them. "What? I thought you'd be happy to have him back" She replied nonchalantly "Don't gimme that crap!" Sid snapped again, this time grabbing Claudias arm, turning her to face her finally "What is this?!" She asked forcefully, she wanted to know. Since Sebastian was born she wasn't allowed near him, let alone have any form of access to him and now here she was handing him over. It was fucked up, well and truly. She was happy to see him, sure but the circumstances were fucked.
"I can't look after him anymore. You're his mother, it's your responsibility." Claudia told her, yanking free from her grip and reached for the car door handle. Sidney was seething, how dare she act as if all of a sudden she could just click her fingers like that. Sidney had wanted him from day one and she'd robbed her of that and now here she was thinking she could just pick and choose, treat Sebastian like some puppy that she'd gotten for christmas and grew bored of after a while, trying to send it back.
"Finally you take notice. You can't do that, you can't just come here and leave him on the doorstep as if he's some pet that you're no longer fond of. Who do you think you are?! Where do you get off treating him like that? Oh....lemme guess, new husband? It wouldn't be the first time you've abandoned someone close to you for some jerk-off asshole. This one beat you too?...you make me sick" Sidney sneered, edging close to her, forcing Claudia to back up against her vehicle.
After a moment of glaring, the brunette took a step back "Get out of my sight. I don't want to see you again, and if you dare try to weasel your way back in and take him from me....I'll kill you." She was serious. If she was going to leave him, he'd stay here and she'd make damn sure that this place, with her, was the place he remained.
Sidney turned to walk away, none the wiser when it came to reasons from Claudia. She made her own assumptions, if the woman wanted to leave him here Sidney wasn't going to argue, she'd waited a long time for this. "It's your father" Claudia called after her, stopping Sidney in her tracks. She turned to face her again "He's out of jail. He came by the house. It's not safe there for us anymore." She explained, finally an explanation and one that didn't make her look like a complete cunthole.
The hard faced brunette furrowed her brows at her mother, before her expression shifted to a much gentler one. Okay, so maybe she wasn't a complete ass, but still, it was a pretty shitty move to make. She was happy to run off and leave him with no explanation and Sidney wasn't impressed. She sighed and took a step closer "Right. So....where are you going? I mean, Seb's obviously gonna to ask isn't he? what do i tell him?"
"Tell him that I went to stay with his aunt. I'll come back, to see him but...he's not safe with me. Your dad, he has no idea where you are and it's best if Sebastian stays out of his way." She couldn't argue with that, Claudia was right. If her dad was out there, he'd be gunning or Claudia and it was better for Sebastian to be out of the line of fire. He was safe with Sidney, for a start she had an ability which meant Robert would have great trouble getting his hands on any of them with her around.
"...You let me know when you get there, yeah?" Sidney asked. Claudia was her mother afterall, and even though she'd given her a whole lotta bullshit over the years...she was still her mother. She wasn't one for long winded goodbyes, and Claudia was the same so the two of them shortly parted ways and she was able to return to Sebastian who really had no clue as to what was going on.
Sidney smiled at him, bending down to pick some of his bags up "Everything's gonna be fine. I don't know how much she's told you, or hasn't..but you're gonna be staying a while. I hope that's okay with you." He nodded slightly, obviously a little unsure of all that was going on and pretty nervous. Sidney grinned again "Come on, lets go get breakfast." She urged the boy inside, following behind with the bags in hand.
She was happy to have him here, very much so. Explaining this to Isaac was going to be awkward.
However, it didn't appear to be as awkward as she'd assumed because he took the news quite well. Sebastian still wasn't aware that Sidney was his mother and so that was left under wraps between herself and Isaac. She explained how she'd been young and how her parents hadn't allowed her to take care of him. Isaac knew most of her past, the things involving her family and how Sidney came from a destructive and abusive home and how leaving Sebastian behind was the hardest thing she ever did. Of course, now the reason for that would be much clearer.
Sidney knew it'd take some time for them all to adjust but with having Izzy also living with them, it made Sebastian settling in that bit easier and the sudden living arrangements resulted in them taking the form of a small family. It was nice, to have both Sebastian and Izzy around because it did reflect a family, something Sidney had never really had. Isaac was her family, he was her world and now there were two others to account for. Sidney would tell him, eventually, just at the moment it was better keeping him thinking she was his sister. Seb had been through enough, he didn't need that bombshell being dropped on him too.
Her ability was something she expected to aid in protecting her family if her father did indeed come. However, something which she relied on heavily, was soon robbed from her and she found herself feeling kinda helpless.
It took a long while for her to come to terms with losing her ability, and for some time it was a struggle. Strangely, Sidney realised that she hadn't actually relied on her ability as much as she once thought...it was strange but Sidney suddenly began to warm to the normality that an ability free life could give you. As always, changes came and sure enough she was back blowing shit up whenever she got mad. Hard times.
With things settling down on the ability front, Sidney was able to get herself sorted and get Sebastian settled in. It came as a surprise to Isaac, whom had no idea that Sidney had mothered a child at such a young age but he understood and supported her, she couldn't have asked for anything more then that really. He was a good guy, they both had their past's and they both learned to just accept eachother for who they were now and not what they had once done. Sidney had made a hell of a lot of bad decisions, one of them being allowing her parents to bully her into handing Seb over to them.
Sidney just hoped that she could be better for him and prove to him and herself that she was cut out to be a mother. She hoped it wasn't too late, and knew that there'd be hardships...the main one being that Seb would have to soon know that she wasn't his sister and was indeed his mother. How he'd take that, she wasn't sure at all, but either way she was going to look out for him.
With a little time out of work, The brunette decided a vacation was needed. She decided to take Seb out to California, it was something they hadn't done much as children, in fact she couldn't even remember going away so a small trip away would help him out as much as she.
The two went to a small burger joint where she was able to spend some time with him, catching up and getting to know him better. She wanted to tell him everything, but for now she and Isaac felt best that they take it slow with the boy, he'd been through enough already.
