4/4: ONE YEAR LATER
One year ago today was the last time I have been to New York City since then. The visit had already been going poorly. Just about every stereotypical bad thing that you see happening in NYC on the news happened to me. In fact, I had bought a plane ticket back home and was scheduled to leave the place around 11 AM on the fourth of April. You can guess what happened to that plan.
Now, a year later after the accidental reveal of Specials, our society has gone from trepidation to adoration to disgust and hate of people like me. We're required to register, like we're sub-class citizens. And we've fallen into patterns of rioting and violence in defense of our ideals, on both sides.
You could say we've come a long way in a year, I guess. But is it the right way? As a Special- I manifested over a year ago now- I have to say I think we're going backwards. Violence is never necessary, and neither are over-reaching laws that affect everyone based on events that included just a handful of us. We should have been far more diplomatic about things, and Specials should have had more of a say in what the government has decided to do. It's kind of like "no taxation without representation." And that's something this nation was founded on. Aren't our recent actions a bit contradictory in that sense?
That's just the view I've taken based on my own experiences... though I think I have a right to form these views. But that's a story for another time. What do you think, reader? Is the US, and the world, headed in the right direction regarding Specials?
