Here's the deal with player-run factions. We know that some of you have expressed an interest in creating and managing your own faction. This is what we as staff have come up with.
First and foremost, you and your prospective faction members (five of them at the very least--six in total counting yourself), will be required to make a joint payment of $6000 from your Eclipse funds, divided evenly among the group--in other word, each of you will have to cash out $1000. In addition, you will be subject to a highly rigorous set of rules and procedures we've established as part of the faction submission process.1
The rules and the code to apply for your faction are listed below. Pay very close attention to the rules. They aren't running on a strike system like our other rules. In other words, you screw up once, we take your faction away. So just keep that in mind.
1. An application template will need to be filled out (At least four or five decent paragraphs), detailing the faction's purpose, activities, structure, membergroup color, etc. This is listed below.
2. All prospective members will need to have at least 200 posts under their belts. No, you cannot have less than 200 posts and pay with $1000 of prize money you've won for OTMs and whatnot. You have to have 200+ posts. This proves to staff that everyone involved in the faction is indeed an active member.2
3. If the faction isn't active (that is to say if for instance, faction-related threads aren't held at least once a month), then the faction will be disbanded and the funds you invested in it will be lost.
4. The OOC personality of the prospective faction leader will be taken into account when reviewing a faction request. If we believe the player in question will not make for a good leader, we can request that another person assumes leadership of the faction or reject the faction altogether.
5. Factions must be ORIGINAL (No copies of already existing factions will be allowed--It's all right for factions to look somewhat similar but there needs to be something that makes them stand out on their own). So no Company clones, no RSF knock-offs, and so forth.
6. The entire faction creation process will be overseen by the staff. We'll have final say on whether a faction is created or not (just like we would with a character). If at any point we feel like something is going out of bounds, we will let you know.
7. Any actions taken by a faction that may have plot-altering repercussions (e.g terrorist attacks, taking over a city, or what-have-you), will have to be run by the staff before they can be carried out. Failing to abide by this rule will cause the automatic and immediate disbandment of the faction.
Should you be interested in purchasing your own faction, please post your application in the For Review board.

ADDENDA:
1This process is in place solely for members seeking to establish a faction. The Eclipse Staff is still free to make factions outside of these rules for the purpose of servicing the site's plot.
2The particulars of this rule are as follows: the faction's leading character will be required to have a minimum of 200 posts in that account. Every other founding character will only be required to have at least 100 posts; however, the players will still be required to have a minimum of 200 posts total in all their accounts.
