Personality-
Col Marcus Grant is a strict man, coming from proud a tradition of strong ethical values, chief among these being honor, duty, and respect. He has raised a son to carry on the family traditions and his pride in the son that bears his name is immense. Colonel Grant is a dedicated father, a loyal husband, and a tenacious man.
He is a man of serious moods. He is not usually light-hearted, and those occasions when he is are typically jarring even to people who have known him for a long time. Discipline is something that he insists on in himself and those he surrounds himself with. He expects a lot of his son and has yet to be disappointed.
The Grants are a goal driven family. The Colonel is no exception. He will stop at nothing to see his goals achieved. He drives those around him to do the same. Overall, he is a domineering person, something of an alpha male. Massively confident, he never doubts himself, and he never backs down.
Detail oriented describes the Colonel perfectly. Details make all the difference to him; there are no such things as "minor" details. Everything has potential consequences, and failing to know what they might be will only lead to failing in whatever he has set his mind to. In his mind, failure is not an option.
His family is everything to him. He would give his life for his family, and is fully confident that they would fight for him. His relationship with his son has always been close, and he has mentored Sergeant Grant in how to live. He has a deep love for his wife, and she for him. He is a total romantic, and he strives to never let their relationship stagnate.
When he was younger, he was a charmer. He still is, really. But he uses his talents for one woman only. He has taught his son some things about how to treat a lady, and how to dance.
Marcus has a code of honor he follows. It holds the following principles as the most important rules to live by: Obey your superiors, Respect others, Don't harm the defenseless without just cause, loyalty is a virtue, remain honest in all things, defend your own to the death, and stand with courage to the last breath.

To make a long list short, his physical limits are the greatest limits he has.
Appearance-
He is about 5'9" and has some pudginess over a mostly fit physique. His hairline is receding, and his skin doesn't have the smoothness of a young man. He has actually shaved his hair down to the scalp to accomodate this change. He sports a greying goatee and makes no effort to dye it.
His eyes are a sky blue color, and his hair color was a dark brown, almost black. His face is careworn with age, and the stress of raising a family. He is most often wearing a serious or calm expression.
His preferred fashion consists of simple practical things. Camo, khakis, denim, and leather are often featured in his wardrobe, as well as some sort of sturdy boot, preferably a steel-toed boot. Plain tee shirts are a staple of the style he has chosen for himself. He can also be seen in nice humble suits, that are designed not to draw excessive attention to himself. He does not like to be a peacock. His dress uniforms are always on hand should he be called on to attend a function requiring their use.

History-
Marcus Grant was born on a naval base, during the Vietnam conflict, and was born a warrior's son. His father spent months at a time on tours in the jungles and cities of Vietnam, while his mother raised him in Navy bases. He knew military life from birth. Eventually his parents were able to find positions closer to home, and away from the fighting. But his father was drawn back into it for a few tours here and there. His mother became a civilian nurse, and raised him in Kansas City during this time, where he lives to this day.
His childhood was that of the military brat. He was enamored with the whole thing, that his dad was so brave and strong. It had driven him to want to be the same. He loved to play with army oriented toys and would play at being soldiers with his friends.
His high school life was divided between three things: Romancing the girls, getting the grades, and winning the big games. His discipline was applied to all of these things, and it earned him much success. In fact, he met his wife in school, and he dated her even when he graduated and went off to school at the United States Air Force Academy. She had moved with him to be there while he attended the Academy.
His graduation from the Academy guaranteed his role as an officer in the USAF. This was the culmination of his dream to match his father's achievements. Marcus Grant I had been a graduate of West Point, and an officer in the US Army. Marcus entered the service of his country gladly and with the proud sense of tradition that defined his family.
He married his high school sweetheart, Susan, and built a family with her. They lived together in Kansas City, where they raised Marcus Grant III to be the man he is today. He retired from the Air Force to work in the private sector when Marcus III was about ten years old. He had a career in politics until recently. He was not yet planning to hold public office , but he had been an advisor to several different public officials and would-be policy makers, his focus being on issues of defense, national security, gun rights, and criminal justice.
He had a fairly calm time in the service, and was able to have a really close relationship with his son that he had missed out on with his own father. He instilled the core Grant values into his son and was proud the day Marcus III enlisted in the USMC. He is somewhat baffled by the fact that Marcus III elected not to re-enlist this time around, and can only wonder what he is up to in the private sector.
Col Grant has seen many things in his life, but the terrorist attacks on Hell and Costa Verde have surpassed all he has ever suspected of the world he lives in. He fears these are dangerous times, and it is only right that he do something about it. It would destroy him to know he had a chance to protect his family, and failed because he didn't take control of the situation himself, and fight for what he loves. When he learned of the RSF, he had to see what he could do to help
Anything else?- not really.
Sample RP-
A family reunion honoring the return of his son. The prodigal son, the only son. Col Marcus Grant II was eagerly waiting for the Marine to get here. He was sitting in the nice country home of his father, who had retired from the Army with the rank of Colonel himself. This man was the inspiration for everything that Marcus II had become. The continuation of a dynasty. A legacy of service, of blood, of sweat, and tears. He saw his family as equivalent to the old castes of the knight or samurai, a warrior lineage, whose nobility was not in blood and strife itself, but in the honorable service and duty that was called for in times of strife and bloodshed. They were celebrating a proud tradition today, and celebrating the even happier fact that his son had survived hell, and could build himself a paradise.
Marcus the Second, looked intently at Marcus the First. He smiled, and sighed. He hoped his father was just as proud of him as he was of Marcus the Third.
" Papa," Marcus said, "We got all three of us here today...ain't that somethin' ?
"Sure is, Tobi," Papa said, using an old nickname from when Marcus was a boy, " It's about damn time too. That boy can settle down some, now. I reckon he feels the same. The war ain't over yet, but it's too much for any one man to be responsible for anyway."
"Sure is, Papa," Marcus said,as a third voice cut through the air of calm contentment in the smoking lounge. A younger voice than the men present.
"Hey, Papa Grant," the youngest Marcus chimed in, "Hey there, Dad."
"Well, ain't ya a sight for sore ol' eyes," said Papa Grant.
"Hey there, Markie boy," said the young man's father, "Take a seat, we're gonna have some smokes and shoot some shit before this party gets started."
Markie took the seat offered, after embracing the Old Man and Papa Grant. The three men all simultaneously lit up their preferred method of tobacco consumption. Markie lit himself a Marlboro, Marcus had himself a cigar, and Papa Grant was all about the pipes.
"So nice weather we been havin' " Papa Grant said.
"Yep," The other two said in unison.
Marcus was glad to be in this moment. All the tough issues and the complexities of life were so far away from his mind, that he actually found a moment of peace. Terrorism, specials, wars, politics, all of that didn't matter in this moment. The family and a simple chat about the weather was all he needed.
"Caught any good fish lately, Papa?" Marcus asked, hoping his dad would tell a good whopper of a fish story to him and his son, the guest of honor.
