Personality-
Eric takes tremendous pride in being a fairly, friendly person who will go out of the way a lot of the time to help others. In doing so, Eric’s tremendous amount of reliability and cooperation shine through and prove his willingness to help. However, this is often subverted by Eric’s inherent need to argue combined with the fact that he is also impatient and impulsive. Furthermore, the young man is incredibly street smart due to his experience of growing up in Manhattan. In addition, Eric is extremely authoritative and knows exactly how and when to take over the situation when required.
Sure enough, Eric is extraordinarily well rounded and is a perfect example of a humanist as he tries to exert himself in anyway possible. Though he might not be intelligent in terms of a lot of academic subjects, Eric still tries to find a way to excel in many other manners of living and does his damned best at it. Through and through, Eric is determined to all ends and extremely stubborn when it comes to admitting defeat. Plain and simple, Eric dislikes asking for help and giving in. He would much rather be stubborn and try to figure something out himself before asking for help… Though that definitely isn't to say that he isn't above asking for help when needed.
To strangers, Eric comes off to be extremely abrasive in the way he talks. Sure, he may be smooth… But the young man can also come off very short and abrupt. Eric would much rather tell the truth than run around it. In conjunction, the young man is also known for his candor which fits into this sentiment perfectly. In loving philosophy, Eric has learned what it takes to be objective in most matters, even though this is hardly the case. When Eric is faced with a problem he often finds himself following a purely Machiavellian viewpoint in believing that the ends justify the means. Simply, he is an Anti-Hero.

Abilities/Powers/Skills-
Ergokinesis – Ergokinesis is the ability to manipulate all types of energy. This ability allows Eric to control all forms of energy, consisting of the electromagnetic spectrum, kinetic energy, potential energy and solar energy. In order to control these energies, Eric must absorb any form of energy. Once this has been done, he is then able to convert this energy into any other type of energy. Through this Eric is able to utilize this energy in a variety of different ways. In it’s most primitive form, Eric can fire energy in a bolt, ray or blast form. The results of these blasts of energy depend on which type of energy is being used. Kinetic energy creates a concussive force, while solar energy will create a beam or blast that emanates extreme heat. Furthermore, electromagnetic energy blasts will provide an electric, shocking effect.
When manipulating potential energy, Eric is able to keep himself, other people, or other objects in a continuous movement. On the other side of the coin, when Eric manipulates kinetic energy, he is able to stop things from moving entirely, causing them to come to a complete and total standstill. Eric is able to store a limited amount of energy within his body. When Eric does this he can hold onto the energy for later and do whatever he chooses with it. One of the most useful ways to put this energy to use though is for Eric to keep it stored and use it to fuel his body. By doing so, Eric can keep his body in a state of peak condition and operate with an incredible amount of stamina. When utilizing his power this way, Eric slowly releases the energy he has in his stores, as opposed to the amount that is dispersed when doing other things with his power.
Energy Absorption – Eric’s secondary ability allows him to absorb energy in order to use with his primary ability. Eric can absorb this energy from any source that generates the appropriate energy. He can achieve solar energy from the sun, electromagnetic energy from an electronic source, or kinetic energy from a moving object. By doing this, Eric can fuel himself and his ability. When Eric absorbs electromagnetic energy, it depletes the object of any energy that it had retained.
Limits-
Ergokinesis – Ergokinesis is undoubtedly an extraordinarily powerful and dangerous ability. First and foremost, Eric cannot manipulate psychic or life-force energy as it is too intricate and powerful of an energy for Eric to manipulate and bend to his will. For Eric, Ergokinesis is like a double-edged sword. He must continually absorb some form of energy throughout the day in order to survive. Yet, at the same time, Eric cannot allow his energy to sit inside his body in storage for too long of a time period. If Eric fails to absorb any energy or if he allows it to sit idly for too long, his power will slowly begin to ravage his body. Eric’s power will slowly begin to eat away at his body. The sheer magnitude and power of this ability makes it incredibly unstable. A clear balance between the two ends of the spectrum is of the utmost importance for Eric to continue living successfully.
Energy Absorption - The main limit to Eric’s energy absorption is the fact that if he absorbs too much energy, this can be incredibly hazardous to his health. Knowing the right amount of energy is key to Eric. If Eric absorbs too much energy his body can be sent into shock. Furthermore, Eric’s body will forcibly expel the energy in an effort to return his body back to a point where it is not in danger from the energy inside of him.
Appearance-
Standing at close to 5’11” Eric Adler has a light, yet stocky build making him very adept for many of the track and field events that he participates in. He has black eyes and somewhat jagged brown hair that, when let down, stops an inch or so above his eyebrows. Below his left eye lies a small scar from a childhood accident. Eric has a fair tanned complexion and skin tone. The young man has cleft chin and a very edged facial structure, which only serves to accentuate his features.
More often than not, Eric keeps himself clean-shaven, although occasionally he can be seen with a five o’clock shadow. The majority of the time Eric can be found wearing a nice pair of jeans that he just loves to lounge about in. Though he can be seen with a collared shirt and light jacket, he also loves to wear simple t-shirts that are very comfortable.

History-
Eric was born to James and Layla Adler on March 19th, 1983 in Valhalla. The young couple soon moved to New York City, where James would eventually become a local judge for the city while Layla would grow to become a prominent banker on the Lower East Side. Layla and James did all they could in raising Eric and his younger brother, Ethan. Although because of their professions they were often away from their children they attempted to instill the best of values in their children by affording them the best education and care money could buy.
As a child, Eric had always loved to be moving around and thoroughly enjoyed the times when his nanny would bring him to the park. There he was always able to find something to do whether it was having a race with his brother or jumping off a swing and flying through the air. On one occasion, while Eric and his brother were on the swings in the park, Eric jumped as he normally did. However, he tripped as he landed, and dove face first into the dirt where he collided with a small rock, which cut him just below the right eye. Although he was okay, Eric still keeps a small token of the occasion in the form of a scar.
As a portion of the cultured, wealthy lifestyle Eric's parents were able to afford him, he was immersed into the arts at a ripe, early age. At first, Eric found this aspect of life to be very difficult because he had yet to find his niche. He showed no interest in the arts and found a distaste in most classical music. Finally, one afternoon Eric accidentally stumbled upon the music of John Coltrane and instantly fell in love with the smooth, yet erratic sound. Eric had found his love in the arts in the form of Jazz and immediately began to learn the piano in hopes of becoming great like the countless number of musicians before him.
While attending private school, Eric joined the track and field team in order to satisfy his love for moving in a more useful way. While on the team Eric was able to excel greatly in many racing events, but also found a love for pole vaulting and even archery. Upon graduating high school, Eric was hesitant to go on to college immediately, but at his parent’s behest he applied to many schools in the immediate New York area. Eric ended up attending New York University right there in Manhattan, where he graduated after four years with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy.
Eric’s original powers manifested as a combination of a kinetic energy shield, which when pressed to its limits would cause a forceful explosion of the very same kinetic energy. Within the first few months of having his power, Eric accidentally killed a person attempting to rob Rose O’Riley’s bar. Eric instinctively defended her and his powers activated once more. In a freakish explosion, Eric’s powers had impaled the armed robber on a nearby steel pole. Shaken, lost, and confused, Eric fled New York City and headed west across the United States. The young man stopped here and there and everywhere.
After working on a farm in Texas for a little while, Eric Adler continued onward, desperate for a place to call his own. Eric finally settled down in Las Vegas, Nevada. The young man had found a job working as a mechanic with another young guy named Anthony. Soon after coming to Las Vegas, Eric’s power changed drastically and has been adjusting to ever since. Eric and Anthony had gotten along fantastically, until Anthony one day died tragically in a motorcycle accident. It was awful, and Eric had been hit hard by it. But definitely not as hard as Anthony’s girlfriend Sidney Rizzo had been. Eric didn’t know what to do, but he did know that he’d stand by Sid. He’d grown accustomed to her company and the young man knew that she would need his support as the days passed by. Eric didn’t know where his life was going to lead him. But then again… Eric hadn’t followed a direction in a long time. So for now, the young man was content to keep on wondering aimlessly.
Anything else?- I used to play Eric here, but now he’s back :o
Sample RP-
Eric Adler stood atop the breezy rooftop of his New York City apartment. The wind rushed fervently past him as he closed his eyes, and enjoyed every moment of it. In his hands was a large pole that he had used for vaulting in track and field competitions whilst in high school. Although he participated frequently in high school, he had been out of practice since going off to college. Due to his rigorous curriculum, Eric had very little time to participate in the small track team that NYU had.
With the free time that he did have, Eric usually ran through Central Park. Thus, it had been a while since Eric had vaulted. Tightly, Eric grasped the pole between his hands and stared his task down. Butterflies swirled within his stomach as if he was about to do this for the first time, and it certainly didn’t help that what he was about to do was incredibly stupid.
Beads of sweat had begun to form above Eric’s brow and his breath began to become shallower by the minute. “Fuck it… Here goes nothin’…” As if to the sound of a gunshot that was not there, Eric instantly began to move towards the edge of the rooftop, pole gripped tightly in his hands. With a practiced precision, Eric pointed the end of the pole to the crease where the rooftop met the wall. With great force the pole struck its intended position and began to bend, effectively moving Eric upward into the air over the building he was on and the one ahead of him.
No, it wasn’t the brightest idea Eric had had in a while, but it was something he needed to do. For a mere moment, that seemed to last an eternity Eric soared through the air above the alley below him. With the wind fiercely flowing through his hair, Eric closed his eyes in order to grasp the grandness of the open sky; he felt like a bird, soaring above the Earth, flowing gracefully about. Although he was enraptured in his dreaming, Eric opened his eyes masterfully and eyed the ground below him with precaution. Eric had been lucky, as he was not going to overshoot the padded mat he had placed on the other building. Awkwardly, Eric fell and attempted to roll as his body collided painfully with the mat.
Lying upon his back, Eric felt pained everywhere; his landing certainly needed to be improved. Eric lay quietly, and motionless as he let his body respond to the pain he was now experiencing. It wasn’t too bad; he would certainly get over it momentarily. Yet, in the meantime Eric simply stared upward into the sky, eyeing the birds that soared carelessly above the busy people of Manhattan.
