////Heroes: Reborn vs Site Plot
So I finally watched Dark Matters last night.
Dark Matters is the six-episode prequel to Heroes: Reborn, the 13-episode miniseries that is basically a continuation (not reboot; read on) of the original Heroes show. Thanks to Nick for pointing out the prequel's existence months ago. All six episodes are now officially posted to Hulu and YouTube; the latter can be found here.
Since I became aware of Heroes: Reborn, I've been trying to anticipate how to include it as canon here. I was going to allow for certain events that happened in the series to happen here too, but with our own reactions given how much farther our story has advanced in the years since the show was cancelled. (Well, really since season two, since three and four don't exist to us. They're not even apocrypha.) Having watched the prequel, I have a solid idea of just where Reborn is going to go - but I'm not sure how it can play out in our timeline.
This is, in any case, something I feel the whole site should have a say in. Each Dark Matters episode is under ten minutes long, so I think you should have a watch at some point. However, I'll write a very brief synopsis of the events:

{Dark Matters}Claire Bennett's coming-out video inspired many more Specials - or "Evos," as in "evolved humans," as they're called - to reveal themselves as well, only to be silenced and run underground. One young woman, Phoebe, shows her brother, Quentin, that she can manipulate shadows. Quentin supports her and encourages her to own her abilities. But her abilities cause her nightmares, especially as her power grows to include not simply shadows, but darkness.
Phoebe runs afoul of registration laws when a protest she organizes goes awry, and she is forced to register her abilities. When she starts looking for internships, she is rudely turned away by a company with a "humans only" policy; but a man nearby invites her to apply for a job with a corporation called Renautas. Following a huge fight with Quentin, Phoebe disappears, apparently having done just that. However, she had also expressed interest in an "Evo summit" to be held in Odessa on June 13 (2013 2014), and Quentin tracks her there. Before he can get anywhere near the summit, however, there is a sudden "eclipse," and a massive explosion.
The news labels June 13 as a terrorist attack, and reports indicate that responsibility for the attack has been claimed by a group led by none other than Mohinder Suresh. Phoebe is named as one of Suresh's cohorts. Believing none of it, Quentin contacts Hero_Truther, an anonymous Internet user who had previously been encouraging Evo protests and awareness, and the two work together to get Quentin a position inside Renautas. After some time it becomes apparent that Renautas is Primatech - aka "the Company" - and is engaged in bags-and-tags just like the old days, and had also staged June 13 themselves.
Quentin and Hero_Truther arrange to meet in person to exchange information. Hero_Truther turns out to be a grown-up Micah Sanders. Just as Micah is revealing what he has learned about Phoebe, the meeting is interrupted - Renautas has followed Quentin straight to Micah. Quentin escapes, but Micah is captured.
Quentin goes on the run. Using the information he stole from Renautas/Primatech, Quentin locates the one man he believes has the information and skills needed to stop Renautas: Noah Bennett.

The incompatibility problems are manifold. For one, we've already covered the points that Reborn seems poised to rehash. For another, the conditions Evos find themselves in in Dark Matters is also something we covered already - nearly five years ago. It also puts the Company in a strange position. Not impossible, but definitely strange.
What are your thoughts? Do you see any way to mold the events into our past and current plot?One thing to note is that the major event in Dark Matters occurs in mid-2013; at that time, Eclipse was nearing the end of Volume VIII: Reticence, aka our hiatus. EDIT: Apparently it was summer of 2014. That actually places us in Volume IX canonically, a few months after Lucius Kilvayne takes the Presidency. So integration is possible... but what would be the effects of retroactively adding a major event? More harm than good?
Speak freely - only one rule: Be wary of spoilers. I think the vast majority of us have not seen Dark Matters yet (I didn't even know it was available beyond the app). Otherwise - let's cobble some ideas together.
I personally would like to include at least the major parts of Heroes: Reborn so as to help draw new blood, but by and large I'm not seeing how it will be possible, and the only thing I think might fit is the event I suspect will happen at the climax of the miniseries.
