The few months had been a giant whirlwind for her. First of all, the whole Grace killed Victor hubub and how the RSF just came storming in demanding custody of her. Further more, Grace went defeated. Long story short, Harper was innocent and it seemed that Vaughn's body had never been recovered, so, who was to say he was dead at all? suffice to say she'd have slept better at night to know a foul creature like that was deep in the ground where her belonged, being eaten by the earth but...meh, you couldn't get everything you wanted. Life went on for the rest of them.
Unfortunately.
With Grace back within a matter of weeks, work commenced as normal and everything too its place. Of course, a mass of changes made The Company in the public eye, much greater then before which on some level made her job that much harder. She wasn't inclined to lie about where she worked any more, however did invite the odd occasional problem here and their when she was recognised. Not all people favoured the company nor their way of doing things, mostly civilians, whom upon knowing Lilly's origin were quick to judge and point the finger.
The fact was, whether she was special or civilian Lilly agreed with The Company and their doings these days, they tried to make things better and she was very respectful toward her colleagues and employers. Grace and the others were a wonderful bunch and brave as hell to put themselves in the forefront for their people and their beliefs. Lilly knew without a team like that behind her, she wouldn't have been half as strong.
Of course, outside work was another story entirely.
September had seen many things change for Lillian most of which circulated around family. Lilly and Peter were getting on much better and as a result, the redhead finally decided to change her surname officially. They'd spoken a lot about it and both figured it was a good idea, plus it'd fair much easier for the two of them to conjoin finances and get a bigger place. To be honest, though Lilly loved her apartment, it was small and Peter sure had a lot of shit to fill the every corner of her tiny home.
Alongside those changes, her mother had gotten herself a new partner..in the form of a woman named Michelle. That was weird for Lilly, since as far as she could remember her mother liked guys, then again it didn't come as much of a shock considering how she spent most of her life hearing her mother cuss and moan about anything with a penis. So, over all...her mother becoming a lesbian, not so weird.
Lilly had many changes within a few weeks, the biggest being personal and yet related to work at the same time. An assignment found her stumbling upon the father she had not seen since she was four years old, that was almost 18 years of not seeing nor hearing from the sorry excuse of a man and WHAM! one day she just ends up on his doorstep...well the steps to his trailer, anyhow.
To say the least, Lilly wasn't expecting it at all. She figured, a man who gave up a family was likely off in search of a life, a career perhaps? no..it seemed as though the only thing Bill Taylor liked to do was get wasted. When she knocked on the door, she was faced with a greasy haired, lowlife, lard ass who stank of beer and stale cigarettes. He had long redish hair, a very scraggy ginger beard and tired, drunk eyes that he could barely open. Lilly stared at him for several moments, silently. He hadn't changed much from the one picture she had seen of him, of course aside from age but even then he still looked the same.
She knew he wouldn't recognise her, not one damn bit so when he mistook her for someone trying to sell something and attempted to shoe her away, it didn't shock her at all. Suffice to say, Lilly was more then annoyed that this lowlife piece of crap had no idea who she was and for a moment wondered, maybe it'd have been better if she walked away. He'd let her down once, who was to say he even wanted a second chance? It was something that couldn't have been planned, it just fell perfectly into place, after all these years, a job she never thought she'd ever get had landed her here. Now, what would she do?
Lilly punched him. Yep, that's right, the redhead balled a fist and swung it aiming right between his bushy brows. She hit him full on, causing the drunkard to stumble back into his trailer and hit the floor with a thud. Her bright green eyes widened, particularly shocked by her own reaction which after a moment adjusted into a small smirk. He'd had that coming for almost 18 years. When Bill came around it was evident he'd be all pissy and confused which is when she let him know exactly what that fist was for. He didn't react as she'd expected, she thought he'd be quite dismissive of her but in actual fact he seemed quite apologetic.
He started behaving frantically, cleaning about a space for her to seat and offering her drinks and food. Lilly wasn't really sure what to make of him, she didn't know him, she was bitter toward him or what he did but surely...18 years later, the man had changed? Lilly being Lilly, was naive. She believed people could change and deserved a second chance but that wasn't to say that she had forgiven him. She'd think about it, one thing was for sure, she sure as shit wasn't telling her mother about this. Agnes would go insane.
Lilly explained that she'd originally been sent to him on assignment and after informing him of her occupation and how she worked for The Company, he appeared proud of her. Lilly seemed somewhat flattered, she'd never had a father to be proud of her, it felt nice.
The next few weeks she would go see Bill, whom she still remained on first name basis with. Bill had a pretty special ability, he could Abosrb Energy and use it to enhance his own physicality often enabling him to become stronger or in some cases invincible to damage of sorts. Bill was also able to use such energy and redirect it in the form of powerful blasts but insisted that he'd never purposely set out to do such a thing and she believed him.
Things were going well until Lilly made a quick visit to Bill without informing him first. She had only dropped by on the way back from work to give him the inhibitor that The Company had issued the man. Whilst his alcoholism took over the major of his life, The Company believed that he needed to be restricted until after he came out of the rehabilitation centre they'd referred him to. Bill was forthcoming, but not so much toward her surprise visit. It wasn't long before she figured out why.
Bill had a secret, one of which he'd failed to share with her during the last few weeks. Bill had another daughter and Lilly, well, she appeared to have a half sister. Jenna.
Jenna was just as surprised to see Lilly. Without even having to say anything, both girls quickly put the pieces together. I mean, jeez, the resemblance between them was uncanny. Lilly had always believed she got her features from her mother, but seeing Jenna made her think otherwise. Bill had a whole lot on his hands to follow, because both girls ganged up on him before departing. Lilly was mad, seething in fact but more so curious about Jenna. That was her sister, her little sister at that and Lilly wanted to know more about her.
Thank god for The Company and their files because had it not been for them, she'd have probably never uncovered her identity. It was a fact. Jenna didn't just look like Lilly, she was indeed her sister and apparently a special too, newly manifested until all specials lost their ability. She was on the radar. Now all she had to do was find her.
The Company had many resources and many helpful agents who'd been supplying Lilly with any information she had missed in her search. Jenna was well hidden, which made her wonder if maybe her mother was special and knew the drill. Hell all this talk of specials over the past few years, she wouldn't be surprised if Jenna was hauled up in some underground bunker, hiding and fearing the worse. Lilly would have taken the case even if Jenna wasn't her sister, but because she was made it more of a goal for Lilly.
She was sat in a cafe on the edge of a busy street, laptop in front of her and Peter sitting opposite. Lilly had dragged Peter into the whole search, mostly because she wanted him to be included in her family ties..however frustrating they were, plus he had something she didn't..not just an ability, but a silver tongue. It was a given that Lilly couldn't talk her way out of anything, Peter on the other hand could do exactly that and was often able to gain her access to stuff she'd have never got her hands on without him.
Lilly had a pen hanging out the corner of her mouth, chewing the end whilst her other hand continued browsing files "If you were a seventeen year old girl, where would you be?" She asked openly, flashing a look over her glasses at Peter "...I would usually ask my self that question but, I spent most of my teen years in a library with my head buried in some dusty old book. I'm assuming my sister, isn't as anti-social as I was. I'm just hoping she's not like my dad because if that's the case she's probably laying in a ditch somewhere, covered in her own pee..drunk out of her mind." She paused, what were the chances? her brow raised.
Lilly offered a nervous smile "Now would be a good time to throw some ideas at me..."
