Personality-
Immanuel is quite the interesting person. At least, that's what has been said about him from people who know him or have met him. He is quirky in a way that is almost annoying until you get to know him. He's easily distracted by things, especially smoke. You can usually find him with a cigarette in his hand, if not his mouth, watching the smoke; playing with it. Immanuel's obsession with smoke can most be seen in the art he produces. He is, after all, a budding artist. Well he's an artist when he's not working at the latest fast food joint that will have him. If you ever ask him about being a fry cook, all you'll hear is a long list of complaints for the next few minutes.
You can talk to Immanuel about most things. He'll stay interested for at least a few minutes; more, if you can get him hooked. He, like many people, has jumped from fad to fad; not so much to fit in, but to experience what all the hype was/is about. But, he doesn't drop them all like most people. He holds on to those that he really likes. And, he's more than happy to discuss your favorites and how they differ/are similar to his.
Immanuel has a few things that he can not stand, though only a few. His main pet peeve is when someone tells him to do something. His almost immediate reaction is to do the exact opposite, especially if they are excessively forceful or angry with their demand. If they would only calmly ask instead of demand, he'd be much more willing to help or do what they ask. Another hot topic is when someone begins to get needy or demand attention from him, or others. Immanuel has no trouble being by himself, so neither should others. Sometimes Immanuel even prefers it. People can be overwhelming at times.

Abilities/Powers/Skills-
Immanuel has two powers. His first, and main power is that of Typhokinesis or Smoke Manipulation. He discovered this ability when he began smoking. He found that as he watched the smoke, and imagined patterns within its movements, that it would adopt those patterns of movement, even when they were impossible in nature. From there he began working with and expanding his powers. He can create smoke and breathe freely within it. He can also control the toxicity and content of the smoke and how it affects different people, to a limited degree. His second power stems from his continued experimentation with his first power. Immanuel can teleport through his smoke. As long as it is smoke created by him, he can teleport into or out of it.
Limits-
Immanuel can create or dissipate smoke, but it doesn't happen all at once. For example, Immanuel can fill or empty a standard room with smoke in about 30 seconds to a minute. So, if he were out in the open, he couldn't suddenly call up a huge cloud of smoke. It would take a couple of minutes. Also, as stated before, Immanuel can control the toxicity and content and how it affects different people to a limited degree. If Immanuel were to call up a smoke cloud to cover his and his allies' escape, but made it toxic to deter enemies, he could hold off some of the effects from his allies, but not all. The only person who can be completely unaffected by Immanuel's smoke is himself. When Immanuel teleports himself through his smoke, there has to be enough smoke for him to stand in. It can't be a little wisp of smoke over in the corner.
Appearance-
Immanuel is attractive enough by his own standards, and of course those are the only ones that matter. He stands five feet ten inches tall. His skin is fair. His hair is Brown with sparse Red highlights. Immanuel's eyes are Blue like the color of a pool of water. His smile though often present, never ceases to make his eyes shine. His face is so expressive that he appears to have his heart on his sleeve because it is usually very easy to see what he's feeling.
Immanuel likes to dress nice, but usually doesn't have the money to afford the latest fashion. He usually has on jeans or khakis and a button up shirt. Sometime he has it buttoned other times he has it unbuttoned with a graphic t-shirt on underneath. His shoes are comfortable and stylish, just like him. Another almost permanent attachment to Immanuel is a cigarette. He rolls his own and usually has one out to mainly see the smoke and sometimes inhale it.

History-
Immanuel Laine Rodgers was born on March 12, 1991 to Marilyn and Jeremy Rodgers. He was a healthy weight and of normal disposition for a newborn. He lay there crying for a bit, before finally being calmed by his mother. There he sat, all nine pounds and six ounces of him, watching his mother's face with his own beautiful baby blues. He was going to be the perfect child, or so his parents hoped.
During elementary school, Immanuel was an excellent student. He usually stayed just ahead of the others in his class because he had a great appetite for books. He of course read all of the classics. His favorites were Dracula and Frankenstein. His parents gave him almost anything he asked for. His father was a wealthy lawyer and his mother's family had money, so it was never a concern of his. His parents even began putting away money in a bank account they started in his name for him to go college when the time came. Im's needs were few and far between.
Junior high carried on much the same as elementary. Then, when Im started high school, he began going through puberty as well. This is where the rift started between him and his parents. Im started hanging around with the less-than-popular crowd, and his mother didn't approve. What she didn't realize is that her disapproval only pushed him further into it. This was also when Im discovered his love of art. He had doodled before, but he started taking any art class he could in high school. Art became his obsession to the horror of his parents.
After many nights of arguing and fighting after he graduated, Im finally agreed to go to college for a "real degree" as his parents called it. Im told his parents he was majoring in Pre-Law. His father couldn't have been more thrilled. Little did they know that Im was actually majoring in Art as he had always wished. Im graduated a year early because he had taken extra courses during the summers of his last 2 years. His parents didn't find out about his major until the day he walked across the stage to receive his diploma. This is what originally broke the relationship between Im and his parents.
Im moved to New York and got an apartment and a job in one of the many fast food joints. He also began working on his art whenever he could. He'd finish a piece and then try to sell it to a studio. At first, it was hit and miss, but as he started to sell his pieces, his name began to catch on and it became easier to sell his work. This was a great step forward, but he still didn't make enough from his art to support himself. Around this time, Im began to notice he was feeling different. If he was in a mood, he would sometime smell incense and couldn't explain the source. He also started realizing that the smoke he was exhaling was responding to the patterns he saw in his head. Im began exploring this and realized that he was one of these "Specials" he had been hearing about. He also had been hearing about all the strife mixed up with being "Special" and he decided that it was best to keep this under wraps. He tried to talk to his parents about it, but they only turned him away. No son of theirs was "Special". Im wasn't sure what to do with himself, but he decided to try to find others like himself. They would know more than he did on the situation.
Anything else?- Not that I can think of.
Sample RP-
Immanuel had decided last night that he should call his parents about his... abilities. He wasn't exactly sure who to turn to, but he figured he might as well try his parents. Sure he had kinda pushed them away with his decision to major in Art, but they've probably gotten over that by now. Parents are always supposed to love and support their kids. Hey, he thought, they'd been cool with me being gay, surely they'd be cool with this!. With this final reassurance, Im picked up the phone and dialed home.
The phone rang twice and then his mother picked up the phone.
"Hello, this is Marilyn Rodgers," she said promptly
Im hesitated a breath before speaking, "Hey, Mom. It's me..."
"Oh my God, Immanuel! Why in the world haven't you called me?! Your father and I have been worr-"
"Oh come on, Mom! I know Dad still hates me for how I lied to you and him about my major. I'm actually started to be quite successful now."
Marilyn paused for a moment, and when she spoke there was a hint of forced kindness in her voice, "That's great sweetheart. I'm so proud of you." Marilyn then immediately rushed into, "Now when are you coming home? The sooner you get here, the sooner we can get things settled and get back to our lives."
"Mom. I'm not coming back. I actually called to talk to you about something..." There was a hint of worry in Immanuel's voice that Marilyn instinctually picked up on.
"What's wrong, Immanuel? Did someone hurt you? Were you robbed? What happened?"
"Calm down, Mom... You've heard about these people with special abilities, right?"
"Yes. Did one of them attack you? What did it do to you?" Marilyn added emphasis to the word "it".
"No, Mom. I wasn't attacked. I just.... I think.... I have...abilities too, Mom. It just started happening to me. I needed someone to talk to and so I figured I'd call you and Dad. What should I do?"
There was a short pause on the other end. Finally Marilyn replied, "Now that's not funny Immanuel. You shouldn't joke like that. You're not one of those...things. Now tell me what's really wrong."
"Mom, I'm not kidding. I really am... 'special'."
There was a very long pause on the other end. "Mom? You there? Say something."
Finally Im heard a breath.
"No son of mine is going to be one of those freaks! Those...those mutants! You have to choose! Your family or those freaks!"
"Mom...! What do you mean? I'm not a freak! How am I supposed to choose? I can't help it. This is who I am. Why can't you accept that? You never accepted me for me. I wanted to be an artist. That wasn't good enough. I wanted to go to New York. Not good enough. Now, it turns out I'm have some special abilities and you're 'not having it'? That's not how life works. Don't do this."
"No, Immanuel! Until you can think clearly and come home without these 'powers', neither I nor your father want to hear from you!"
The last thing Immanuel heard before his mother hung up the phone was his father's voice in the background, screaming angrily.
Im hung up the phone and went and sat down in his apartment. He stared around listlessly for a moment before he began to break down. Tears slowly started running down his face as he sat and wondered how his mother (his own mother!) could have reacted that way. Immanuel wasn't sure what to do for the longest time.
Finally he sat up, wiped his face, and thought, To hell with them then! If that's the way they wanna act then so be it. I'll find some more of these special people and they'll help me with this if my parents can't!
