Personality-
Ray is a funny guy, or at least he'd like to think so. He had been through a lot of hardship and he figured out that instead of letting those storm clouds haunt his life he was better off putting on a smile and having a laugh about. When someone is feeling down he will often crack jokes to help them feel better or anytime when the situation presents itself. Strangely he also seems to do so when under a lot of stress, when confronted with danger, trouble, or any of the like he cracks a joke to deal with the stress. It's mostly observational humor, with some British humor, satire, and the occasional understatement. Altogether he always has a smile on his face and laugh ready to emerge.
Ray is an intelligent guy. From a young age he took a great interest to literature and science, he wasn't quite into math though and often found himself with Cs and Bs. he was drawn to the interest of science, the explanation for the many questions that plagued humanity for centuries. It all incited his mind to think in new and different ways. He scored high marks in most in his creative subjects but trailed behind in math, and could often be found with his nose in a book. Nowadays he is mostly doing the same thing, always trying to learn everything he can about odd facts and such.
Ray had been raised knowing that responsibility was key. A true man was to be responsible, caring, and always true to his word. He honestly did try and follow these views and most of the time he did alright. When needed he would reluctantly take charge and do what is needed. Though he tries to never break a promise and always remain to true to his word and everyone around him, in the end Ray is only human. When things become to much he has taken a tendency to picking up his bags and heading along his way. He figures his greatest mistake and most irresponsible act was leaving Boston, and trying to leave his past behind. Though now he tries his best to do the right thing he knows he would never reverse that decision, even if it does wrack him with guilt.
Ray's past is one he prefers to always keep hidden. He finds it difficult to even think about it without feeling the rush of emotion. He had allowed himself to be corrupted, had to endure his father's death, and in the end he still left it all behind. He is ashamed that he had never taken Edward's offer to study with him. Though he knows he probably couldn't have prevented it he always feels as if his father's death was his fault. Hell he even went into the drug trade, the same career path that killed his father. He is very secretive about his life before New York, and it would take a lot for him to open up. He wants to move beyond his transgressions and find forgiveness, somewhere...
As of recently Ray has adopted a rather discreet persona. He prefers not to be the center of attention or even on the edges of perception. His manner of speaking to his gait have made him disappear in a crowd and his more generic features have made his face rather forgettable. Perhaps previously he would have thought the invisibility the bane of existence but now he takes solace in the quietness of it all. Sometimes going unnoticed just isn't that bad, especially when you truly are extraordinary.

Abilities/Powers/Skills-
Size Shifting -
Ray has the power to alter his size, and effectively his matter psionically. His power is described in two separate segments, the act of growth and the act of shrinking. He has not yet discovered his ability.
Ray's ability currently allows him to grow to a height of 50 feet tall. This is done psionically as he manages to increase his mass and grow exponentially. The growth process takes place instantaneously or over the course of a few seconds as his atoms undergo expansion. Only his biology and certain skintight materials will grow. The process requires utmost attention to grow "properly" as to make sure he doesn't become misproportioned in the growing process. As he gains increased durability and strength, proportional to his size. His strength does not grow exponentially and it directly correlates with his strength at normal levels.
Addi tonally Ray has the ability to shrink, he can comfortably shrink down to one inches, though with extra effort he can shrink down to 1/4 inch. Same as with growing he can only shrink his biology, not his clothing or any peripherals aside from the few exceptions (certain skintight clothing). As he gets his smaller his weight gets a lot lighter, even by proportional standards. At smaller sizes he has enhanced durability, normal size strength, and increased agility.
Limits-
Size Shifting -
The limits for both growth and shrinking are mostly the same. They both have their shift ceiling, 50 feet for growth and 1/4 inch for shrinking. Only his biology can be shrunk and skintight clothing composed of certain materials. Perhaps the biggest limits come from a phenomenon he has (will) aptly name, Shift Shock. Shift shock is a feeling of extreme nausea and may cause Ray the inability to move from a spot while his body corrects itself, it is debilitating at the least and can be potentially lethal.
Ray normally stands at around 5' 10" , this will be referred to as his base height. His base height is the standard to which his power conforms. When Ray changes size he must have a rest period at his base height, especially when doing a major change. Going from 50 feet to 1 inch tall could lead to a potentially lethal case of shift shock. Additionally if he stays outside his base height for more than a few hours his power will begin to send him back to his base height, if he refuses it he will begin to experience mild shift shock moving into severe. If he stays in the form he may end up stuck at that height, unable to use his abilities. Rapid size shifting may also cause shift shock, or if he changes many times within a limited time period.
A "good" shift takes a second as Ray concentrates on the act and the changing of his body. He should transform back within the two hour period to his base height, and rest before using his power again. Bending his power to the limit will result in Shift Shock, which in turn may lead to his death. Additionally his power must be done on a proportional level, he cannot make one part of him smaller or larger without the rest of him, on the same note he cannot make himself more muscular, skinny, or fat.
Appearance-
Ray is by no means an ugly guy and may even go as far as to call himself good looking. His hair is a dark brown, flowing and wavy. It is soft to the touch and he normally keeps it well groomed and combed, of course sometimes he exhibits a ruffled mess instead. His eyes are in his opinion his best trait; they are a deep brown, a luxurious, mesmerizing hue. They sparkle whenever he smiles though they display a dull pallor when he is feeling down. He feels his worst trait is his nose, believing it to be narrow and flat. His lips though are full and often curved into a his charismatic smile. His teeth are near perfect aside from a few slightly crooked molars, braces can't fix everything.
Ray keeps his body toned and muscular, you have to take care of your body after all. He has a pretty strict workout regiment though he does go on and off his body fluctuating between ripped and not so much. He has mostly lean muscle and though his pecs and biceps are defined they aren't bursting or especially huge. His abs are defined, on good days he has a six pack but neglecting his work outs can demote him to a measly four. All this is covered in his light skin color, of course he does enjoy to get tan every once in a while.
Though Ray is English born he was bred in America and dresses in the same fashion. Being a music fanatic he is known to dress in tight fitting band shirts and low cut jeans. He normally wears a tired old pair of running sneakers though, you never know when you have to start running from some vicious apparition. Though he prefers darker colors such as blacks or blues he is not adverse to wearing brighter colors, neon and pink though are definite no no's.

History-
Ray's story begins in London, England. He was born to Parents Nathan and Rebbecca Miller, on a starry night in October. His parents would remember it as the happiest day of their lives but if that was true it was one of the only few they would share. Nathan was a wealthy man to say the least, he was in the risk analysis business and his company was counseling many insurance industries. He was an industrious and clever business man and would spend much of his time at work. It was his workaholism that would eventually drive the wedge in his wife and his relationship. When Ray was only three Rebbecca hustled out of the house with him, angry at Nathan for his neglect and saying how he hardly gave a care for his family.
Perhaps the biggest problem was Nathan never even tried to stop her from leaving. Nonetheless Rebbecca though the best life she could find was far away from her son's father, so she decided to immigrate to America. They settled in Boston, Massachusetts. Growing up Ray was often shuffled overseas between parents, his mother during the year and his father during the summer. He found his mother to be caring and supportive but his father was more casual and distant. At the time Ray didn't really care about his father, to him he seemed more of as a rich uncle.
By the time he started going to school Ray excelled in a many areas. He was a bright child and often impressed his teachers. He took a keen liking to science and literature straightaway. In junior high he met up with a few boys who claimed to have run of the town, a gang. Ray was leery of them at first but they asked him to join them surprisingly. Ray was happy to feel accepted and quickly accepted their invitation. He knew his mother would be none to happy about it, which is why he chose to keep his actions a secret.
It turned out that the boys weren't just full of it, they were on a first name basis with most cops in Boston and had developed quite the reputation. Their favorite pastime included doing cocaine, Ray still young at the time decided no harm could be done in trying it, one thing led to another and he was soon dealing. Ray was probably the most timid of the group in most affairs but excelled when it came to the actual dealing of the drug. One day while looking up "recipes" in the library the librarian, Edward Grey approached him. Edward told him that he had known both his grandfather and father, and was pleasantly surprised to see that he had moved to Boston. As if the thought just popped into Edward's head he asked him if he would care to study abroad after Ray related his love of science, particularly biology and genetics. Edward told him of the work he did with his grandfather and how his father had turned down the offer to study abroad with him years earlier. At first Ray was non convinced until Edward began telling stories of the work he and his grandfather did in a place called Coyote Sands.
Edward told Ray that he knew the kids he was hanging out with and what they were doing, Ray was told that the drugs and lifestyle were corrupting him but refused to believe so and left, turning down the offer. Slowly Ray did indeed become a more sadistic person, indeed becoming more and more addicted to the cocaine. The gang preformed various pranks which slowly got more and more violent. Eventually a couple people had actually died. At the time Ray felt no remorse and it seemed pretty soon the gang would be caught if it had not been for the accident.
Ray was told of the death of his father one day after coming home from school. He seemed nonplussed at first but eventually broke down. The man had not been in his life much but in the end he was still his father and he loved him. Nathan had made drug deals in London and it was murder, killed in the night by a particularly vicious gang. Ray was disgusted with himself and turned on his friends, abandoning them and the drugs. It turned out that later the gang had gotten arrested, and would be sent to juvie. Ray was too busy going through a painful with drawl to care too much.
He vowed never to use again, painfully aware of how corrupting and vicious it was. Ray was racked with guilt over the lifestyle he had lived, finally realizing the scope of his actions and went to Edward, hoping his offer was still valid. He wanted to get an education to redeem himself, make a negative into a positive so to say. Edward told him of Ray's grandfather who had left the genetics field and "evolved human research" for work at a company (unbenknownst to Ray or Edward his grandfather actually got a job at The Company.)
Ray was transferred to an all boy's private school and during that time he studied and learned as much as he could in various scientific fields, particularly this field on "evolved humans" under Edward. It was soon after he turned 18 though that Edward disappeared, he was filed a missing person and the case slowly lost momentum. Ray was exceptionally sad over the lost of his mentor and friend but there was really no answer to what had become of Edward. The dream of studying abroad, gone. At 21 he decided to cut his losses and leave Boston. He wished to further his knowledge and training so he bid farewell to his friends, and his mother. It was painful to leave, especially his mother, the only family he had left, but he felt it was necessary to start anew.
He left to New York, he didn't have any plans or anything just believing it would come to him in time. Upon arrival, he went to a local library hoping to get a job as librarian, he felt it would a comfortable position and one that would be like his mentor Edward's. Unfortunately for him the position was already filled but undeterred Ray opted for the job as the library janitor. Now he spends his days sweeping and reading, just waiting for life to toss him a little adventure. In his free time he attended a local university which after a few years he got his bachelor in Political Science.
When Ray's powers first emerged he spent his time roaming the country looking for answers. Upon meeting Eden Quinn he realized that there was no cure and it would simply be best for him to find good uses for his ability instead. Ray returned to New York temporarily before learning about the fight club and the company. It was at this point he met Amy Jayne King, the girl who would become the object his affection.
Shortly after being hired by the Company Ray was enlisted into the Elites, disappearing off the grid for a few months. He later reappeared in New York city trying to apologize to Amy and convince her to sign up with the Elites as well. He preformed several small operations with the Elites before embarking on a mission of personal importance. After scouring the Elites research databases he found information regarding his deceased father.
He discovered that Nathan Miller was not just a wealthy business owner, he was actually a member of an English variant of the Company, an organization dedicated to the research and understanding of specials. As Ray traveled to England he investigated the details behind his murder and unwrapped a frightening truth. His father's death by drug gang was a fabrication made up to the defend the secrecy of the Organization. He had been taken prisoner by a local special terrorist cell. He had later been executed by the leader of this said group, his death then reported to Ray's mother in the states as a drug deal gone bad.
Considering his own history of drug abuse and his teachings with Edward Grey, Ray felt greatly conflicted. Eventually he decided it was indeed a good thing that he had discovered the truth behind his father's death and why he was truly such a workaholic. As he prepared to leave back to the states Ray discovered two more frightening revelations; the identity of his father's killer, and the fact that his trace-shifting father may not be as dead as he previously thought....
Anything else?- nope
Sample RP-
Ray was sweeping the hardwood floors of the old Rinehart library, just on the outskirts of Brooklyn. It was a magnificent building, oak bookshelves rose to the ceiling, comfortable red armchairs surrounded the welcoming fireplaces. It was a wonderful place to read, in front of those fireplaces, to just sit back and sink into a good piece of literature. Oddly enough it seemed that not many people were stopping by the library lately, it was sad really, people were often too busy with their own lives to delve into the written word. Ray on the other hand never missed an opportunity to read a good book. He finally finished sweeping and plopped down in one of those comfortable armchairs, staring into the fireplace.
The ancient librarian Anthony Crawford hobbled into the room with a cart full of books. He had a kind if not droopy face, hunched back, bowed legs, and a brown tweed sweater which he wore every day. He was kind and meant well but he was definitely no Edward Grey. Ray saw him struggling to put a book on a shelf and the 21 year old quickly stood up to help. He took the book and placed it on the shelf for him, giving the librarian a kind smile. For all the kindness Anthony had showed him, little gestures of kindness were the least he cold do.
"You must have been a real help to your mother," Anthony said, his voice hoarse and old. Ray just smiled, not wanting to disclose too much, he actually hadn't seen his mother in a long time and missed her.
"No prob Mr. C," Ray responded with a smile as he headed back towards the couch. Anthony walked behinds him smiling, "Why don't you take the day off. Go home for once, I'm sure you have a pretty lass waiting for you." Ray just laughed responding, "The library is my home, and can't say I've been on the dating scene much." Anthony just shook his head and smiled before hobbling back off to work. Ray really did practically live in the library, he just felt more comfortable in a world of books than a world of people.
