Sometime this week, Senator Eli Hatali, who was the principal supporter of Senator Nathan Petrelli in his fight against terrorism, had a meeting with the President. However it appears that the result of the meeting wasn't at all favorable for the Senator's plans since he left the White House looking certainly disgusted and without wanting to comment anything to the press.
After some days however, he has cooled down and decided to give a short interview for Eclipse times. Reporter Tony Bradshaw visited him in his office in Washington D.C. and asked some questions that we have all been wondering. So here we present the exclusive interview with the Senator.
TB(Tony Bradshaw): Senator Hatali, first of all I want to thank you for agreeing to meeting me in such short notice, and for giving me the exclusive.
SEH(Senator Eli Hatali): It's alright Mr. Bradshaw, the people clearly deserve some answers and I have nothing to hide.
TB: Please call me Tony, alright starting with the questions, first one is related to your recent work supporting Senator Petrelli's anti terrorism campaign. What can you tell us about the program?
SEH: Well Tony, what our team was doing in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security was simply identifying terrorists and stopping attacks to our nation. It was nothing more than that, just trying to keep the average american safe.
TB: This terrorists that you claim live in our nation, do they belong to some known terrorist cell or organization? Who is funding them? Who is the real person behind these attacks?
SEH; They are not linked to Al Qaeda or any muslim extremists if that's what you are asking Tony. No, I'm afraid this terrorists are domestic, people angry at the government, for reasons unknown to us, that are taking it against the general population. I mean you saw it in the news recently, Matthew Parkman, ex-cop from LA, he was planning to bomb D.C. , Why? We are not aware, he was recently divorced, failed the detective exam several times, got fired, these people are not healthy psychologically, we are doing America and them a favor. And any of them hearing me right now, you would do yourselves a favor if you turned yourselves in.
TB: So is it true what they say? That Senator Petrelli's own family are members of this organization, his illegitimate daughter, his brother and even his own Mother, don't you think that he is the wrong person to be in charge of the whole operation?
SEH: Senator Petrelli's motives are past me, but America shouldn't haste and draw conclusions so fast, besides, I hear that he may be stepping down from the operation due to personal problems. Which is part of why I went to see the president.
TB: Of course, your meeting with the President, I'm assuming you discussed your further plans with him, judging from what the media had after your departure from the White House, you didn't look exactly happy, could you tell us some of what happened during said meeting?
SEH: Nothing really, the President and me were merely discussing issues of terrorism, as you know it has been one of my concerns since I took the seat back in 08.
TB: What were your plans, did the President turned them down? If so, why?
SEH: They weren't exactly plans, merely ideas on how to keep the country safe and keep the terrorists from damaging this country more than what it is already damaged. It's not enough that the financial and automotive industries are crashing and that we are facing the biggest recession in decades, but we also have nut cases like Matthew Parkman trying to blow up the Congress, you can see why I would be concerned about America's safety. During recessions, the cases of clinical depression hugely increase, we need to be prepared for psychological ill people trying to do something stupid in their depression.
TB: So then why did the President turned them down?
SEH: He didn't turn them down we merely had different opinions in the matter, nothing that doesn't happen every day in Congress.
TB: I was doing my homework and I found out that you used to work for the CIA, specifically under Project Stargate, would you say that what you learned in said project has affected your views in domestic terrorism? Do you believe that people with extra mental capacity, the type that you and the rest of your partners were searching for are the responsible of the current threat to our nation?
SEH: If you did your homework Mr. Bradshaw, you would have also read that Project Stargate was inconclusive, we didn't find anything statistically significant that we could report and form opinions from, the project was canceled by former President Clinton and their failures shown to the general population. What I'm trying to prevent are real threats, not the product of an accelerated imagination.
TB: Well thank you very much Senator, I think you have answered all my questions.
SEH: No problem Mr. Bradshaw, the pleasure was mine.
