In recent events the Senator of Texas, Shannon Lewis made two statements both have been recorded and placed in the Times for viewing.
I'm tremendously sad to say that the world has lost one of the most compassionate, loving, and caring person I have ever met, Julie Pasdar. Last week, Julie died in a fire in her hotel room at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Officials say that the fire was started due to the fireplace in her room. The fire spread to the other levels of the hotel. Fortunately, there were only two reports of minor injuries.
But Ms. Pasdar was unfortunate to be sleeping at the time of the fire and must of died in her sleep. It brings me great pain that such a wonderful person had to die when she brought so many people joy and happiness.
While growing up, Julie didn't know her parents just like many of us, they died when she was a baby. Life as an orphan isn't easy, and Julie experienced that. But that didn't stop her from having a positive outlook on life. Never leaving the orphanage, Julie decided to dedicate her life to helping orphans by giving them a home where they can have a family and experience love and care.
I speak from personal experience because I was one of those orphans she took in. She found me at the age of seven when my parents were killed in a car accident. I couldn't tell you how alone I felt. It felt like I had nothing left in the world. No other family to go to, just all alone. That was until Julie came to me and brought me to her orphanage.
There I grew up with other kids like me and we all became sort of like a family. When any of needed anything, Julie was there for us. To many of us she became the mother that we never had. Now it's sad to see her taken from us in this tragic accident.
The last thing I want to say is that Julie Pasdar will live on through me and all the other lives' she has changed for the better. We love you Julie!
Nathan Petrelli, a rising star into the Nation's politics. Recently, Nathan has been appointed Senator of New York, by the governor. And just in a few short months of his appointment, Nathan is on the Homeland Security Committee and has also found himself in the close presence of the President. This new rising star has raised the media's awareness on how Senator Petrelli worked his way up so fast to find himself at the President's side.
Well, rumors report that Nathan has been aiding the President with homeland security issues. With recent interviews from both the President and Mr. Petrelli, the nation can allude to that our country is supposedly facing a new threat. Although both have failed to name or specify what this new threat is, most have assumed a new terrorist group and possibly another terrorist attack is in the works.
I have supported this President and the past for doing whatever is necessary to protect this country. Some have criticized me and my fellow politicians for our support of wiretapping program and the signing of the Patriot Act. I believe those things were and are necessary, for in order to protect this country from terrorist groups like Al-Queda.
Although, I find myself questioning Senator Petrelli and the President's intentions on this recent new threat. Not being on the Homeland Security Council, I don't have the same access to files as Senator Petrelli does, so I don't know who or what this new threat is.
We have to ask ourselves, how far are we willing to go to protect us? What we have to do is identify this new threat and judge if this threat is really a threat at all. So with these new crackdown on the public, I have to withdraw my support from the President and Senator Petrelli. Until they reveal to the American Public who this new threat is, I'm going to vote against these new bills that Senator Petrelli and the President are proposing.
Now before any of my critics call me a hypocrite, I'd like to clarify that my support for the previous wiretappings and the Patriot Act were to protect this country from terrorists who committed the September 11th attacks. But I have no idea what these new set of bills and policy changes that Senator Petrelli is proposing, are suppose to protect us from.
