**Ancient Rome some years after the birth of Christ.**
Translated from latin
Ovid stood in front of his peers, this was undoubtedly, the greatest compilation of important people in the history of the world so far. Greeks, Celts, Gauls, Chinese, Hindi, Jews, everyone from the important civilizations.
He was a writer, but like all the important men of the time, important men often dwelt into different areas of knowledge. Today however the matters were more important than usual, they were here to discuss what had been happening lately.
"My brothers, I have gathered you here today with one purpose" he said as he looked around the perfectly just made building for the Roman politicians, where today around 50 people were hiding to discuss something important. "Ceasar Augustus has declared something today, all the druid acts and rituals are not to be tolerated in the Empire anymore"
"You know what he means by druid rituals, he doesn't want to acknowledge that the gods did what we do and now he is saying that everyone like us are druids" said Ovid. "We have the power of the gods with us and he is afraid, he is afraid of what can happen if we turn against the Empire, he remembers Aquiles and others before him"
"If you've come here today is because you like me are afraid of prosecution" said Ovid. "Of being attacked by the Emperor simply because we are different"
"This is why I've came to the conclusion that we should form a Mystery" said Ovid. Mysteries were secret cults or groups that operated outside of the general population, they gathered and had secret meeting and gatherings. "It is the only reasonable thing to do, hide everyone like us from the government"
Throughout history they had had people with different abilities, they had called them gods just because they had powers that other humans didn't. Some of them could manipulate the weather by will, create lightning storms when they were angry. Some of them could control water even as far as dividing rivers in half, others could make anyone fall in love, others could release death. Ovid himself had the ability of shape shifting, which came really handy at times. He was even writing a book he would call Metamorphosis about many people like him that he had encountered.
But now the future of the people like him, these fantastic people that had the powers of gods, it all was balancing in a thin thread. For thousands of years people like them had been adored, worshiped, now they considered them a threat to society. Ovid could see their point of view, he had met people able to control fires, if they were to be angry they could potentially destroy cities with a thought, they were right to be afraid, but Ovid wouldn't go down so easily.
"Today, today we swear to protect what is now our biggest secret" said Ovid. "Specialis" said Ovid using the Latin word for secret again.
"No matter what it takes, we protect it" said Ovid. As all the other people around the room started nodding and agreeing, some of them had brought along someone to translate them, some others knew Latin themselves. All in all this was a very, very important meeting.
If someone close to the Emperor were to hear them, not a lot of them would be able to escape out of here alive. He however was willing to risk it, their Secret was too important.
As Ovid began making an oath with them, a young man, which Ovid dearly appreciated came into the meeting.
"Master, the Emperor was told that a lot of not worthy strangers had been seen around this area and is about to send Imperial troops to search the area" said the boy to Ovid.
Not wasting time, Ovid walked to the other side of the room, in the floor, hidden from plain view there was a trapdoor, he opened it as a lot of dust filled the room. "Quick, everyone must escape through this tunnel" said Ovid to the rest of the guests, which quickly began entering the tunnel which would take them to the forest, away from any harm.
As Ovid himself entered and told his dear boy to hide the trap door, he started walking along the tunnel which was behind a couple of wine deposits in case Imperial troops were to ever find his trap door.
Having reached the forest and sure that they were safe he addressed everyone again. "Until we see each other again my friends, Specialis lives"
