Personality- Approaching middle age and becoming aware of his mortality, Jack has become more bitter and cynical about the current state of the world. Once he was excited to meet more people with powers just like him, and he now avoids them unless they are causing trouble, seeing most of them as narcissistic fools more interested in advancing their own goals at the expense of everyone else. Because he dislikes and hides from the government, Jack is not much of a team player though he will temporarily join other specials in need.
Due to his alcoholism, Jack has a nasty temper and is prone to act impulsively without thinking of the possible consequences. As a victim of child abuse, he reacts very violently to wife and child beaters and drug dealers, treating them more harshly than any other types of criminal scum he faces on occasion. It also does not help matters when he sometimes comes across to some women as sexist.
That said, he tries his best to rein in his bad habits and focuses his time and attention in his current hobby, motorcycle racing although he is careful to perform only on the amateur circuit to avoid drawing unwanted attention. He is also very much aware that his actions toward criminals might lead him down the tragic path of becoming just like his abusive father and is seriously considering curtailing his vilgilantism down a notch or two while at the same time trying to do some good in the world before he dies.
Abilities/Powers/Skills- Corporeal Transmutation, a more limited form of the powers Molecular Absorption or Atomic Transmutation. It is the ability to "absorb" solid non organic matter (usually inert) on touch and modify his body's cellular construction so as to mimic an entirely different inorganic material. In short his skin takes on the elemental properties and appearance of said object or material that he touches while somehow surviving the sudden radical transformations to his DNA.
For example, if he touches a brick wall, his skin transforms into that of the appearance, color and texture of said wall. Even his hair, eyeballs (his eyes take on a opaque look with no irises or pupils), teeth, tongue and the insides of his mouth somehow retains the appearance and durability of the mimicked material. Yet somehow his body remains flexible and able to move about normally. His weight is unchanged though his sense of touch is greatly decreased during the changes. He can maintain his changes for quite some time though the longest he ever kept such changes was only five minutes. He cannot take on the aspects of any kind of granular material such as sand, at best he can take on the overall solid appearance of the individual mineral particles of said sand such as silica/quartz. Unlike atomic transmutation, the bodily equivalent is limited explicitly to Jack. He cannot alter anyone or anything outside his own physiology. A genetic "survival reflex" allows Jack to maintain enough control over his power so he does not activate his ability while wearing clothes, jewelry or watches or when he is sleeping. This means that the clothes he wears is unaffected by his power (though they often don't survive the rough wear and tear when he's transforming).
As for skills, Jack is a very good mechanic (though he mostly specializes in cars and motorcycles) and amateur motorcycle racer. Due to the positive influence of his foster parents as well as his long stay in Israel, he can speak both Hebrew and Yiddish fluently.
Limits- His power can only mimic non organic solid materials. Jack cannot absorb living/organic matter nor he can touch the other phases of matter such as energy or liquids. Jack can absorb only one kind of material at a time; also he cannot be selective with his power so he cannot make only his hands mimic materials, his entire body has to be affected or it won't work at all.
It is also worthy to note that Jack's ability functions only when his bare skin touches the material he wants to mimic, so if he wears any type of clothing that covers his body completely such as a radiation suit or mittens, the power won't work although there are ways around this. (For example, using fingerless weightlifter gloves is acceptable.)
Jack must be conscious so his power won't function when he is sleeping or knocked out. He also cannot take on the material of granular material like sand though he can 'absorb' the individual mineral particles, like the silica of said sand for example. Finally any damage done to his hands often creates a psychological block which cancels out his ability for certain periods of time lasting anywhere between a few minutes to a few days depending on the severity of the damage.
Appearance- At 6'0" and weighing about 200 lbs, Jack could stand out in a crowd even without his raspy voice and the intense stare of his brown reptile-like eyes. He almost always shaves his brown haired head bald (mostly to hide his bald spot) and often applies and takes off removable tattoos whenever the mood strikes him. Upon a closer look, one can see the telltale signs of alcohol abuse: bloodshot eyes and flabby arms as well as the beginnings of a beer gut. Due to the nature of his power and simple way of living, Jack wears inexpensive though sturdy clothes such as blue jeans, tee shirts and construction work or army boots usually brought from Goodwill or The Salvation Army.

History- Jack was born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York. The only son of George and Janet Murdock, he was named after his uncle, Jack Taylor. However young Jack had endured verbal and physical abuse from his father, a former construction worker turned drug dealer and cocaine addict. The Murdocks had had a brief contact with Janet's sister, Michelle Taylor, Jack Taylor's wife and their infant son, Wyatt whom Jack doted on while they were visiting. Shortly afterwards when Jack was 15, George murdered his own wife in a drug induced rage right in front of Jack.
Jack sought to defend himself with a stainless steel knife and managed to escape, fleeing to alert neighbors. George jumped out a window in a blind panic, trying to commit suicide. Unknown to Jack, his father had survived the fall though he lost the use of both his legs and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
As a result of all this, Jack suffered a severe nervous breakdown which suppressed much of his memory of what had happened that night. He was sent to a foster home and had to be medically treated in dealing with his nervous breakdown. Soon Jack was adopted by a kind couple, Hiram and Norma Rubinstein. Hiram had taught Jack everything he knew about auto mechanics and when Hiram passed away, Jack inherited the family auto shop, Rubinstein Autoworks with his foster mother's blessing.
During this time, Jack was still seeking professional help with his emotional trauma over his birth parents' deaths. At the hospital, he met for the first time and befriended another of his cousins, a young girl named Agatha Taylor who was also being treated. Jack soon returned to the auto shop after he made a quick recovery.
Years later after selling his home and business to go full time into the sport of motorcycle racing, Jack was jolted with finding out his father (who he thought was dead) survived that dreadful night and was on his deathbed in Bellevue Hospital. Jack confronted his father but was annoyed that the old man didn't remember him or that he killed his own wife all those years ago and he died within minutes after Jack entered the hospital room. Days later Jack was further distressed in the news that his foster mother, Norma was slowly dying from pancreatic cancer and Jack left the States for Israel to tend to her on April 3 2010.
The day before all hell broke loose.
For the next three and a half years, Jack lived in Jerusalem, taking a part time job as a mechanic while taking care of his foster mother, all the while becoming aware in horror about the events that mainly occurred in the United States such as the April 4th crisis, the devastation of the towns of Hell and Costa Verde and the cholera outbreak that were unfolding via televised newscasts or from what he had read in the newspapers.
While at first he was elated to learn about the existence of evolved humans, whatever idealism in the notion that Specials could help heal the world died within Jack as the world community began to fear and hate those with superhuman abilities after some of them began to act as if they were gods, causing much pain and chaos.
However Jack became exposed as a Special himself after stopping a Palestinian extremist from tossing a duffel bag filled with plastic explosives toward a crowd of people by The Wailing Wall.
Instead of gratitude however, an angry mob formed against the very man who saved them from a terrorist! Luckily, Jack got away and hid until the heat died down.
When Norma finally passed away, Jack stayed only long enough to attend her funeral and left to return to America. Once he returned to New York City, he decided to use his ability as a vigilante.
He soon found himself blackmailed by government agents who somehow discovered what he can do and what he was doing with his power. So in order to avoid jail time Jack had to join the US Navy during both the Kingston, Jamaica and Washington DC battles against the Dominion but the end result left him truly disgusted with the American Government's actions. The deaths of several people including Sparrow Akiyama while the rest of the troops led by Marcus Rodgers ran away was the last straw and Jack left the city of Washington to fall into the hands of the Kilvanyes.
Jack tried to continue his vigilante activities in New York City but he annoyed the police one too many times and had to leave before he got arrested once a warrant was issued.
Currently Jack is roaming the American countryside trying to find a purpose and direction in his life.
Anything else?- Jack was adopted by Hiram and Norma Rubinstein, both are deceased. He also has an uncle, Jack Taylor (deceased), an aunt, Michelle Taylor and two cousins, Agatha and Wyatt though he has not seen any of them in several years nor does he know where they are or if they are even alive.
Sample RP-
Brighton Beach, Brooklyn:
Jack impassively watched the long lines at the markets as he pushed and shoved his way along the crowded street under the elevated subway track. It reminded him about the joys of living totally on fast food: no waiting, no credit checks and best of all, no cooking the damn meal yourself.
As if on cue, when he passed by a Russian deli, his stomach rumbled at the smells of borshch soup and amaretto cake wafting out from the place. Jack had half a notion to go inside but shook his head in anger.
Enough of this! Focus on why you're here and then eat later!
The person he had been looking for all morning was nearby and Jack knew he had to finish up here before the race in Coney Island started without him.
Which would suck as he already paid the non refundable entrance fee. Jack hoped that at least some of the promoters might be interested enough in his riding skills to sponsor him. Doubtful of course but it could happen.
Jack rounded the corner and climbed the front steps of an old brownstone. Pausing just long enough to see no one was around, he hunched down and with the palm of his right hand, touched the brown brick stoop he was standing on. Almost instantly his skin took on the craggy brown appearnance of the brownstone. It took Jack a couple of tries leaning his shoulder hard against the locked front door but finally with a quiet wood wrenching whine, the door gave way and Jack quickly entered.
Still in a body of brownstone, Jack climbed to the second floor and never one for subtlety, kicked open the door of the apartment he had been looking for.
The startled man sitting by the kitchen table looked up from the small mound of crack cocaine powder he was measuring and reached for the gun in his shoulder holster but he was not fast enough.
Jack grabbed him by the neck and slammed him into the nearest wall.
"Nyet, Vasalov, nyet." Jack growled. "We have a lot to discuss and only 30 minutes or less to do so. Let's play a game, you tell me what i need to know and you get to keep your fingers and toes."
